I have a new Performance 420 that i took delivery in August. I came from a WP360. It's like going from a midsized Mercedes to a big high end Bentley.

Specifically, what are the differences between a P360 and a DW360? I was under the impression these were EXACTLY the same.

A Doug Wright will not fit in Performances mold and a Performance will not fit in Justin's (Doug Wright) molds. The tunnel has been modified by Performance. Both work very well and both are very fast- The P360 has less tendency to bottom out "tunnel slap" at lower speeds.

Great analogy and yes they are WAY bigger.

Justin Wagner of Waves and Wheels is the owner (or at least the majority % owner) of Doug Wright Powerboats. Possibly the Wrights retained some % of ownership??

I am too lazy to check the dimensions, but I am assuming that the 388 Skater has a much higher tunnel that allows it to eat big water, but requires more power for speed on flat water.

Sounds to me like there is significant differences between all 3 of the Doug Wright variations. Hull bottom, cockpit size, deck, etc.

It depends on your threshold for what is significant. It is more like tweaks of the DW design.

Like if you order your 388 Skater with outboards, mild big blocks or 1550s. Hulls will not be identical. And decks never are.

I ordered a P360 shootout weekend and it is being built now.

I spent some time shopping, rode in a few in Miami, rode in some at poker runs the last 2 years, and spent a lot of time talking to my friends that own them about the things they love and their pain points.

Some boats were easy to eliminate immediately based on fit and finish alone or a design feature that didn’t fit for me. I made a complex points based grading system for the boats I narrowed it down to because I’m a nerd. I don’t want to go into details of my decision process because I spent time with all these boat people and will continue to do so. I will tell you I very quickly narrowed my scope down to 4 top brand boats

Within those limits, it would be super-helpful if you could share a few pieces of your decision process, as well as which boats you looked at.

You can do it Bass & Walleye Boats Magazine style if you want, e.g. "For the angler who puts more emphasis on fit and finish than on price, speed and handling, the Ranger is an excellent choice"
