Within those limits, it would be super-helpful if you could share a few pieces of your decision process, as well as which boats you looked at.
You can do it Bass & Walleye Boats Magazine style if you want, e.g. "For the angler who puts more emphasis on fit and finish than on price, speed and handling, the Ranger is an excellent choice" My short list was DCB, MTI, Performance Powerboats Gave consideration to Outerlimits in the end but I was pretty set. I did step on the Valor at LOTO and the cockpit is massive. I know the guy that paints those and he does an absolute killer job. What I pickup here in the comments is a lot of guys wanting a wave crusher and smooth cruiser in rough water. That's not me necessarily. I have other boats so day boat function was a light consideration. I am a lake boater so I didn't need an ocean runner... I want speed and the way a boat looks sitting in the water, running...its very important to me. I also have a 42 foot slip and I didn't want this thing hanging out off my lift so I was never considering any of the new 42+ boats. Some of these cats run a true 128-130, most are 120-124, some of them run 112. You gotta pay attention when you are in the crowd on the water, and I do not want to be in the back. I did a points system based on the below criteria. Interior Fit & Finish Dash Seat Appearance Seat Material Seat Function Interior Space Stereo Rear Deck Function Swimming Function Walk Around Storage Compartments Name Recognition Resale Customer Service Service Location Exterior Profile Exterior Fit & Finish Paint Line Detail Overall Paint Waves in body mold Lighting Price Speed Peak Speed Poker Run Trim I'm sitting in airport I don't have the whole criteria. But that's what I did. These 3 check a lot of boxes for premium boats and the price varies quite a bit for loaded boats. If you are serious about an Outboard cat you owe it to yourself to look at these that I had considered. |

http://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.offs...a2b72c1815.jpg I built a 40 Mystic C4000. The boat is all carbon weighs in around 7,000lbs and is a beast in rough water. This flat out handles my 42 Cigarette in every category. cruise all day 90-100mph. She has seen a top speed of 128mph. I average 2mpg at 90 and used the boat this to for 47 hours and roughly 1300 nautical miles with 827 gallons of fuel. Fit and finish is a 10. Doug Harrel of DHD painted the boat. At the Mystic price point I honestly believe it s the best cat in this size. Everyone that goes for a ride especially on rough days are blown away on the ride. |
That is a great looking boat. Love the colors.

Love how your boat ended up Frank. Performance on it is very impressive too! John at Mystic likes to say his OB cat is considered the slow cat and most people say that. But that big of a cat and 7k lbs and sniffing 130 isn’t slow at all!
John at Mystic is a great guy and they did an awesome job on this boat. I have been boating for 28 years and this might be the most fun I have had on the water. I know everyone get caught up on the top speed number (myself included) but the reality is on thee outboard cats top speed is done in perfect conditions low fuel and 1- 2 people. We run this boat every week between 90-115mph. Where I boat we can get some nasty days and I can still run the boat in true 3-5's at 55-60mph. no one is getting wet and I have never taken a wave over the bow. Don't get me wrong you are sipping martini's in 3-5's but you can through it relatively comfortable and that blew my mind. I had Tres martin in the boat for my insurance class in rough water on a day it was blowing 20 and he was impressed. Anyone looking at a cat should call John and go for a ride and if you are looking to buy one call Tres for his opinion don't take mine. |

What is an everyday speed that you are seeing with it? My last boat with 450s had a best speed of 134. Myself, I've never seen that. I had a personal best of 128, with an everyday of 120 - 124. |

I have a 28 Skater and a garage built to fit it, which creates a bit of a lock-in. However, sometimes interesting boats wash up on these shores, and the pool of buyers is rather small. So it is good to be on top of things. DCBs and MTIs have always seemed kind of meh to me. Although I have never seen one on the water, I was very impressed with what Performance had in their showroom. |

That is a great looking boat for sure... During the past few days I was compiling a list of the OB Cats and forget to include Mystic, as there are not that many of them.

So much easier then a lift. The boat looked as good when I took it out last week for the winter as it did when I put it in the water in May |
