My current cam has .545 lift and it runs out of power at 4400 rpm. I thought that my props that I was running were a little big,But I put the 24's back on and 4400 was it! I have changed timing up and down, I have went up and down 4 jet sizes, And I have checked fuel flow and pressure all good, Pres.-10lbs. I am now looking at the cam just running out.? It is pushing a '29 powerquest, with twin 454's about 6000 lbs.+/-.

I'm also running a Bob cam now though!
We pulled a motor down a couple months ago and found stock lifters in it and it had a 741 cam in it , But the other motor had crane lifters. Some engine Builders you just never know.

You should be able to pull a lot more rpms with that cam. I spun a 454 mag with a .530/.550 lift cam to 5400-5500rpms before it started fading.

Im running a gen 6 with stock roller lifters and the bigger 741 cam and no problems. I went down this road with people saying I would have problems. I checked mine closely and talked with some engine builders.

I know that they work ,They worked for 70hrs until he spun a main bearing . and he turned them to 5700 rpm . We just could not understand why an engine builder would use two different lifters when he building two motors the same.

Thats odd. Sounds like he was out of the aftermarket ones after one engine.

Gen vi roller lifters the max lift on the cam is 0.353 witch is about 0.630 with a 1.7 roller rocker @ the rocker is the max you want to run with the stock lifter. I'm running 228/236 @ 50 601 lift exh/ int. this cam is right in the middle of the 731 741 crane
