I have installed 1000s of the plastic Bravo OEM housing / impeller kits and newer had one cracked when all is properly done and stored away properly for the winter. But will add a new kit goes in every start of boating season helps as well.. It is cheap insurance.

Will point out some of the reasons they do crack is because the bolts are only 10 ft lbs MAX in a star 3 pass torque sequence. Next cracking problem - winter stored - weaken and or cracked is because they never get fully drained of water nor does the inlet and outlet hose leading in and out of the plastic housing. The water in the rubber hoses flows back into the plastic housing and freezes in cold climate areas. Next the hose clamps on hoses way over torqued and cracks there. And the other reason that can break these is improper alignment at the mount and pulley for a jist

This prob is not a current kit or a knock off --- looking at the impeller it looks to be the older white nylon hub impeller. Trust me with packaging and free shipping this person is not making a dime period so with that said, the current buy in price for a dealer especially a QS dealer why would they waste their time and money not making anything unless they some how got these 20 cents on the dollar. And Merc does not sell that way period to anyone... Amazon is full of junk stuff and mislabeling the info by the sellers.

Also for the record Amazon has the largest sales for KNOCK OFF SPARK PLUGS - YES knock off NGK - DENSO and Bosch spark plugs. We are seeing these knock off spark plugs once per week currently. Next Amazon sellers have the largest market of knock off ignition parts and during boating season this is seen daily for all there junk marine knock off ignition parts.

read the the first customer review reply like I said a KNOCK OFF And china parts at that. Like I said Amazon is a shipping site for cheap knock off stuff that everyone goes for because they see cheap dollar signs. Hope no one is buying spark plugs on amazon because I BET YOU HAVE CHEAP CHINA KNOCK offs. It is a huge problem currently

more of the exact BS and it has the exact same housing numbers stamped on it. 4 sure a china town knock off. Great price for amazon shoppers - I think QVC had these to. The LARGEST Merc dealer in the world could not even buy these close to the Amazon blue lite special price kits in the link below..

It is killing me thou -- LMAO - FREE SHIPPING to boot also. So what are they buying this kit for shipped to them in their hands to sell on Amazon ---- 7 bucks ? How much quality can there be making it for pennies - keep in mind the manu of this kit has to make profit as well. So how much cost really is this pump to make --- one dollar ?

Surprised by that review since the seller is Quicksilver. But the pic definitely has the EMP part# on it.

I'll tell ya how they can afford to sell some parts at little too no profit or even a loss:

MF's selling "special edition" paper orings for $8!

I'm all seriousness I'm a manufacturer myself, I've had China rip off my own products, products that I designed manufactured and sold. Nobody hates them more than I do. That's exactly the reason I made this thread, I don't the cheapest piece of crap I can find, you definitely get what you pay for imo.

If I buy a stock pump and the $95 rebuild kit every year, should I buy the $150.00 rebuild kit (also replace the bearings) every other year?
Does that sound like the best plan?

hello , i made brackets for johnson pumps.
you can buy they online for 70 $$$$...and they look cheap thin metal
so i made my own
kind of hard to see ,,as brackets are under the johnson pump...look for red braket with holes in it.
i also had machine recess a .030 pocket in lower pulley , so it is centered and secure mount set up
flash........out

Thanks flash, do you just replace impeller every year? How long with the rest of it reliably last? I'm going that route if I have the room, I'm changing from an omc to this bravo so I'm not sure where my motor is going to end up quite yet.
