It's for redundancy if you lose your Stbd motor and have to come in on Port only.

Maybe you could get one of these to suit your situation.

Shoulda switched over to serpentine belts and you could run stock 500 efi stuff

I remember a while back someone mentioned this (for GM Saginaw pumps) and the only mod needed was to increase the output fitting orifice size to provide adequate flow at lower RPM's (idle). Just need the right size drill bit.
