Welcome to our Domain Name 102 Seminar.
For this exercise, we have registered phantomsveryown.com via dyndns.org
Dyndns.org accepted our credit card, and things were set in motion.
Dyndns.org then turned around and handed phantomsveryown.com to tucows.com
tucows.com is what is called a "bulk registrar." They do what it says.
Now, if you would please follow me to http://www.tucows.com
Enter "phantomsveryown.com" into the whois box.
Enter the password which is there to discourage automated queries.
Voila!
All kinds of sensitive personal information!
What have we learned, students?
There are two kinds of whois queries. One that yields "yes, it's there." And another one that spills the beans. Just like in real life: You need to know who you ask.
Now for the next lesson: Proper terminology.
The registrant: In this case, that's me, your very own BS
The registration service provider: dyndns.org
The registrar: Tucows.
Repeat after me, class: "The registrant registers via the registration provider, using the registrar of record." Good!
(We can transfer ownership of Phantomsveryown.com to Phantom, and we will (if he wants to.) Once this is done, Phantom will show up as the Regsitrant.)
At the bottom, you see the DNS entries. During the registration process, we have told dyndns: "No thanks, we don't need your DNS, we already have a name server. Please use fastdnsservers.com."
Next week: phantomsveryown.com goes live and Phantom gets his very own website.

Scott, wet pits was formed so racers could ***** in private. There were many times things needed to be discussed about APBA matters and people thought that it was something that sponsors and fans shouldn't see.
OSO was asked to host a private racer only section and chose not to, so Bertel did it for us.
SINCE THAT TIME!!!!!!!......he has become involved with OSS, as well as his continued involvment with APBA and OPA. Does he talk about OSS???? YES!! Is that a crime???? NO!!!
He's probably one of the most open people I know. I just don't get this hidden agenda question.
He's told you he's part of OSS, so what is he hidding?
Is there a web site for OSS??? I haven't seen one yet. I guess it's just driving you crazy because no one from OSS is on here bashing APBA as you would expect.
SO WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM~!? I'm missing the conflict here.
I'll answer for him. Did you create wetpits for oss purpose? How could he??? OSS wasn't even formed before Wet Pits started.
and was there a hidden agenda? What could that be?? Hide what from whom? He doesn't seem to be hiding anything as far as I can see. What do you feel is not in the open? His involvement with OSS is right out in the open, what could be hidden?
Geezzzzzzz.

Ron:
My agendas (as pertaining to racing) are displayed in my signature.
For those who can't read:
http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html
Paste this into the "text" box:
" Bertel is a member of O S S, of O P A and of A P B A "
Hit "Speak."
I will join any worthy race organization that sends me a membership form.

Next week:
Phantom will get his very own website! Available at
http://www.phantomsveryown.com
Also: The secrets of DNS entries. You will not see Phantom's website until the DNS entry has propagated to your DNS server. This experience is part of the seminar.
Give it a little while. They aren't called fastdnsservers without a reason ...

Pay close attention current and prospective racers......... you may see what happens if you ask an OSS Board Member too many questions.

What questions do you want answered? I'll call Billy Mauff for ya and get his answers.
Problem is, I haven't seen on intelligent question from any of you about OSS.
Please clearly state your questions.
