Cool Tomas, looks like you have done your homework.
|
FINALLY!!!!!!!!
We fired up the 509 today and it sounds JUST AWESOME!!!! You can't even here yourself thinking. It's freaking incredible! All naighbours surely hate us now since we did it outside an ordinary garage in a suburban area, but who the hell cares at this point!!! Though we had to get an MSD6 box, since the MSD distributor would not work with the thunderbolt. Dyno is tomorrow morning. Pics and mpeg's coming. Thanks for all the support from all parties and please remember to hold your fingers crossed for our sake tomorrow. Cheers!!! :) :) :) |
Congrats bouyz! I hope everything works tomorrow in the dyno!!
ps. Do you guys know anyone that is not on vaccation at this point who is willing to grind one of tobbes crankshafts? |

To be honest...
824.4hp and 815ft-lbs torque  Feels good! Exhaust temps at about 1000-1100F, Boost at ~8psi. The dyno guy wanted 4 more teeth in the upper pulley to make some boost. Will order one later one, go up 2 points in the primaries and gain some hps. Will post the sheets when I get a chance. /tomas |
Awesome! Glad to hear it! Congratulations guys!
|
Thanks guys!:D
We went with 28 deg timing to make it real reliable and 86/96 on the jets. Ended up with 825hp@5800 and 815ft-lbs@4000 (the chart begins at 4000 and drops in a straight line to 765ft-lbs@5800 so we probably have about 840-850ft-lbs as the most. This is with the waterpump and generator connected and real true numbers. Usually there are a 40-50hp difference from a dyno in the US from the ones we have here. Our ones are true corrected and real numbers... ;) |
Sounds good.....Cant wait ti hear it in the boat.............
|
Sea trials today!:D
|
:woohoo:
Good luck, hope everything works as planned. Magnus Z. |
With the motor broken in on the dyno we should have some real numbers quick ! Good luck and enjoy. As far as pullies for more boost adding teeth on the top will lower the boost not raise it.
|
Now it's in the water! We just went for a quick ride since it's been raining all day. It pulls real good!!! Did not connect the gps. Will go for a longer ride tomorrow, will post the results later! :D
|
Looks like you did a real nice job on the engine. Great numbers. Let us know how your performance is. Take it slow!!

Here are the dyno sheets

Tomas the break specifics are where they need to be....
|
Congrats Tomas!
|
Congrats my friend!!! But why did you, the boat and wife leave the town?? I heard that the Dr Drunk crashed some bones during a ride with Lulle!? Are you coming to Gotland nxt week? Mange
|
So whats the outcome ? Is it everything you had hoped and more ?
|
Dr. Drunk is alive and kicking, though slightly crippled... :cool-smiley-011: did some time off in Halmstad this weekend, :ernaehrung004: so will be back on track in a couple af days.
Tomas towed the boat back to his hood up in the north and from what i hear it's running goooood, real good. The prop is way too small though, so just above 71 knots is the highest it's been so far in 2 ft waves, :boat: but there is a whole lot more to give on the throttle, so we are looking for a 30 prop to do some testing  |
I'm in need of a bigger prop right now, in flat water it revvs 59-60 without any efforts and 79mph... In 2ft waves I have only revved it to 56 and 81.5mph, and still PLENTY more to give...:D With a good prop I see no problems at all to get to 85-90mph (to start with).
The prop is a Bravo One 30 labbed to 29 but it's the worse imaginable, no traction at all. It revvs up a lot in sharp turns and when riding along the waves it looses traction all the time compared to a "out of the box"-Bravo. Will test some props when I'm back in town, the Pantera is at my father's summer house about 180miles from Stockholm for the moment. Will be back before friday. The fuel pressure is still dropping as last year (all new AN-10 from the fuel tank to the pump and filter and AN-8 to the carbs, no 90deg fittings, just two tubed 45's and the rest are straight, all sharp corners in the pump and filter bracket are grinded and smoothed out) but this time I'm pretty sure it's the gage (Gaffrig mech, probably about 8 years old) that is the problem, not the actual pressure. We tested two different pumps last year, one 110 and one 130 gph but with the exact same results. Where hoping we had solved that problem but still exactly the same... At the dyno we had 7.4psi of pres up to 2500rpm and in the boat it starts at 6psi and drops imediately with the rpms. Will get another gage and some hose! Had a mishap with one of the carbs flooding really bad, It was a tiny piece of aluminium that was stuck on the needle :angry-smiley-044: |
thanks guys for the ride. That boat is wicked. You guys have done a great job with the motor. Just another prop and you will see even bigger numbers of mph. Did you stay over the night at Walles place?
|
87mph at 5800rpms with the std Bravo 28 in 1-2ft waves! :D
Still had quite a bit left on the stick and could have finetuned the trim alot more, a labbed 30" would probably do it. 90+ is absolutely no biggie! |
Glad to hear you got the boat back running. A labbed 30 and you should be in the 92-94 mph range with no problem.
JO |
the fact you guyz gona go +90mph are so cool. Great to see her in water again. I really hope that the maniac sig sauer-man gona leave you guys peace down at the marina. Are you planing to join to Nyköping @ wednesday?

Well... The damn drive coupler broke a couple days ago, so the Pantera is on the trailer again. Had been cruising at 10-15mph for a while and finally got out of the no wake zones, started accelerating and got to about 30mph when it let loose! :angry-smiley-055:
Got a new coupler yesterday and will change it as soon as I'm done unpacking the stuff in the new apartment. Sounds like I have found a labbed Bravo 30 as well, nothing confirmed yet. The summer here in Stockholm really sucks, so sick of this damn rain!!! |

OK, so I know that you guys are right across the sea from Finland... How did you guys let Kimi Raikonnen end up driving a Fountain instead of a Pantera! :D

Good question there Dude, the fins seems to like Fountains for some reason, the fact that there is a Fountain dealer in Finland probably has something to do with it... ;) |

And I've got to say, odds are looking good for "Team Ape" to be running a Pantera at the SCOPE poker run next month! :chimp:
|
Is the Nynäs Offshorerace next week? If so, I´ll voluntary report myself as rope thrower and boatb!tch at the Pantera. :cheer:
Funny ape-picture there then. I saw Kimi last night at a local nightclub called The Arkipelag, and Kimis boat (friends boat?) was an Azimut located at the MSF-Marina a couple of hundred yards from the nightclub. But if he has an Fountain this year its much better than the Formula 353 Fastech he drove last year. To bad that he spending his sparetime on beeing drunk and literally throwing dink glasses around himself. :party-smiley-020: When he could concentrating on winning the Championship! :angry-smiley-055: :D :signs069: |

Yep, I leave for Israel on friday |
The name on the fountain was "Ice 11" so I'm guessing that's his. I'd also guess he's probably got a bunch of stuff all over the place. Azimut... Nice!
And I have to agree with the Swedes, if you'd paid me millions of dollars to fly around the world and drive race cars when I was 25 years old, you'd have a very limited return on your investment! I would make Chris Farley and John Belushi look like studies in moderation! :food-smiley-009: And since we started throwing around opinions about F1, I do actually like to see Kimi do well, but I think he really made a mistake going to Ferrari. I don't think it was the right team for him, considering his appetite for "lifestyle" and disinclination to focus on things like car development. |
Dr. Deng has just boarded the ferry back to civilization. Will be arriving in Estocolmo tomorrow morning. :)
Though both the Chevy and myself will need some time to lick the wounds... These damn trips are never painless, but fun like hell :) |
