All I can say its never been a problem,I hate to compare them to anybody but its like calling Sunsation, you get to talk to someone that knows the product and not a phone/secretary,last month I was having some electrical issues with the boat,I called the factory and spoke with Bob,1/2 hour later Rick called from the factory spend over a hour on the phone with me,faxed me all the wireing schematics, and called me the next day to answer a couple of more questions, and my boat is a 2000.
I dont know too many other boat manufactures that do that.

That is outstanding to hear. And yes, that is comparable to Sunsation service.

spazboz 09-24-2008 12:24 AM

Yeah, They're good guys over there. I was there for a couple of hours on Monday again, and they certainly are good guys.

pkspx 09-25-2008 02:28 PM

Some of you said you were buying replacement parts for your PQ's directly from the new people at the factory. I need a replacement hatch for my PQ, does anyone have a contact for PQ? Thanks,

spazboz 09-25-2008 03:02 PM

PM me your needs, and will check and see if they have it. NO problem man.

Nick

What's the odds of the factory helping me out with the POS cabin door on my 29'?

laszlo01 09-29-2008 02:05 PM

I had to replace my hatch hinges this last spring and just called there main number and got parts and they sent them out next day air, no problems at all. Where great to deal with, hope they get to re-open and get some new 38's running. Would love to see what they have in store and hope they address the chine walk at speed.

spazboz 10-03-2008 05:46 PM

pkspx, I have your bow hatch, give me a call when you can buddy.

PQ Factory

I was up in the Holland area last Friday and had the opportunity to go through the PowerQuest factory.

I wasn’t planning on stopping by (my time was short) but ended up stopping and I'm glad I did. I had always wanted to check the factory out since we sold our Vyper a few years back.

There seems to be a lot of good changes going on and it will be interesting to see how the 38' comes out when it is debut.

Fast Forward 01-11-2009 07:46 AM

Well it's January 2009 and time for the annual PQ Factory update which I have none but was hoping a local may have some word?? Any movement around the old plant??

spazboz 01-11-2009 08:49 PM

TTY-on Friday

MK 01-31-2009 03:58 PM

Heard a rumor that there is a note on the factory door saying they are officially closed...

DENNYB 01-31-2009 05:15 PM

I also heard that. Everybody is gone.

boatnt 01-31-2009 08:38 PM

Talked to them 2 weeks ago, been trying to get ahold of them the last 5 days with no luck.

boatnt 01-31-2009 08:39 PM

Did they ever open?

MK 01-31-2009 10:45 PM

I guess you would call it that - for a quite while there were 3-6 cars there on a daily basis when I'd drive by on my way to work in the morning. About 2 weeks ago, no more cars, no lights, nothing.

WELL...if that isn't fine "how do you do"!

Knot 4 Me 02-02-2009 07:38 AM

To be expected in this current economic environment. Oh well...

scooter magavin 02-02-2009 03:13 PM

That's too bad.... that's not the impression they gave me when I talked to them a couple months ago.

Fast Forward 02-02-2009 05:08 PM

And I bet more of the same to come for others if 2009 keeps going the way it has started.

jeffgrice2 02-03-2009 05:13 AM

Sad state of affairs. I give them a ton of credit for trying!

I still have have my 95 and love it. Hard to beat these boats overall.

I would have like to have thought different but the fact is I don't think they ever had a chance with the current market trends.

Yup, just unfortunate timing on their part to try to re-enter the market.

laszlo01 02-03-2009 02:24 PM

Very sad to hear maybe in a few years somebody will buy the molds and get it going again, I am sure there will be alot of the same unless you are going international with your sales.

Fast Forward 02-04-2009 07:33 AM

I tried to call and the call was forwarded , but no answer. Still said Powerquest.

scooter magavin 02-04-2009 11:55 AM

Website still works too

Fast Forward 02-09-2009 04:15 PM

Website always worked just dated and wrong descriptions. Pretty sad when the longest thread on the PQ side is pertaining to PQ being open or closed..

dykstra 02-16-2009 09:48 PM

That is a shame, great boats.

boatnt 02-17-2009 06:33 AM

possiable they shut down until the economy gets better???

it makes no sense, how do you run out of business when you dont even try to sell a boat,

speed demon 02-17-2009 11:30 PM

It is my understanding that the current owner of Powerquest also owns:
Coastal Performance Marine
2224 Lemuel St
Muskegon, MI 49444
(231) 737-6400

When I tried the link for Coastal Performance off the PQ website the Costal Performance website is now down. I was thinking people could contact Costal Performance for PQ related questions but that option might be dead as well.

Someone should call Coastal and see what they have to say.

We can only hope to see PQ again some day when the economy recovers, but I am not holding my breath.

Fast Forward 02-18-2009 03:47 PM

I'm planning on stopping by the plant Friday morning to see whats up.

I wouldn't make a special trip - there hasn't been anyone there for weeks.

Fast Forward 02-19-2009 06:20 AM

If thats the case I'll skip it and just head to the show

spazboz 02-19-2009 04:52 PM

Yeah, its not worth your time. I've been working directly across the street from the plant all week and will be next week. There is no one there. There is a Mini Van in the lot that hasn't moved in a while and that's it. I'm not sure what other companies Bob owns, but I know Phil has the areo-tek name and hulls. Hope you enjoy the boat show, I won't be able to make it this year.

Nick

BillR 02-19-2009 08:12 PM

What a shame!! I had 2 of thier boats, both were well built and held up better than average. But in this economy I am not surprised, they didn't have a chance.

There will be more - watch Donzi.

Fast Forward 02-20-2009 06:40 AM

They will be one of many fatalities this year I'm afraid in this business.

800XCR 03-01-2009 04:41 PM

There's an email going around saying there will be a boat completed on March 7, 2009.

enticer 03-01-2009 04:56 PM

Going around to whom, from where. I didn't seem to get one, did you?

Fast Forward 03-01-2009 05:36 PM

I talked with Phil a few months back and he said they had a 38 in the mold as well as I believe a 26. But this would be the 1st I've heard of it actually being completed. If I'm not mistaken is was being built to race so may be it will be the one and only 2009 PQ 38??
