I've used a plumbers's crows foot wrench to solve the clearance issue with out grinding down the stock manifold plug. That is about the best solution I've found.

Cruise AFR is too lean. I prefer 12.8 to 13.2 at cruise progressing towards 12.5 at WOT (naturally aspirated) with reasonable timing.
