My checkmate drives pretty damn well in the snot I've had it in. I have no complaints for it's rough water ride. The porpoise at speeds on calm water, however, can drive me batty.

For the record I'm open to mid 70s boats that don't need much to hit 80...I.e 32/35 fountain.

I think we worked through the answer to my question. Since the 251 has a pad at low speeds (<45) it has a tendency to fall off the pad since the boat is in between being on the pad & not on the pad....
