Had those caps on my old scarab for 2 years before changing to bearing buddies never a problem.....i always put a light smear of black RTV on the hub just before installing the cap and some more RTV...

They will just say its not for Marine use...been down that road with them on my old scarab TRS combo's. I will say this though....even when the redline was compromised in my TRS drive it still lasted...

You would have to go and measure the transom openings to see if its a bravo or TRS. The Bravo came out in 1988 so you are right there as a possible Bravo contender. But I've also seen the TRS drives...

If it is porosity and you have tons of tiny pin holes...only real cure is either sanding it down some more and hoping you don't burn through to the glass under it...or topping it off with something....
