When mine got to 462 hrs it threw a valve. All rebuilt block up with new water pump, alternator, coupler, etc... I was at about 10 grand plus headers.

Personally the gas jokes have kept me in stitches all morning I wouldn't take it as ball busting necessarily. But from experience uncertain future boat repair bills can make one overly sensitive....
