Roller would be great but might get pricey. Look at the 12-236-3. It is the XM262H. I ran this cam and it is a good cam. Great low end torque and pulls good to 5100-5200 rpm. Those are Vortec heads...

I run an 86 Velocity. Has a 406 (~600hp)small block Alpha drive. Run a Hydro QIV 26p+1"(27p) and hit 88-90mph @ 5700-5800rpm. It doesn't have any walk till the mid 80's and trim usually takes it out....

I'm all about more hp, thats a lot of boat for an alpha drive though. You start throwing more power to it and it won't last long. Rebuild it with what you have and leave it alone.
