when you say X dim, do you mean prop shaft depth? X dim. is a measurment from the engine centerline to the bottom V of the hull, propshaft will vary from drive to drive.

I have used the sierra u-joints for years with out any failures, on stock and modified engines. I'm not sure who makes them, but they seem to be just as good and the stock ones.

as far as I know , there is a industry standard for x dim. I beleive it is 14", most of the newer boat have smaller engines but still produce the same if not more HP, and with a smaller engine comes...

we use the 184:1 gears all the time for high altitude on the 5.0 engines, just prop it for the proper rpm and it should be fine. and we have had no cooling issues.

I'm not saying that they are bad,90% of all boats sold are 18 to 25' runabouts and family boats, not your go fast boats that can use a surface drive. I don't think they would have worked out on a 22'...
