Thats just to set the position of the coil. I went with 12 volt and has a pilot light to reveal when on. Next week I should be ready for the install. Problem is its snowing out as I type. Thats it going to fridge to get another Corona. |

Here is my real scientific method of alighnment.
It really does not matter as long as the exhaust and drive shaft fit. When I did the pistons I used a laser and levels. Called Peter at Skater 30 times. It really does not matter. The drives are 6 inches narrower then the engines Squeezing the engines torward the tunnel cuts it down a bit. I will drill it last. |
nice alinement pole

What kind of oil and fuel pressures do the T-53's run @ ? How many gal's and what type of oil is in the sumps ? How long are the jack shafts ie: trans to drive flange ? tanks, J :woohoo:aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa cat's paw on the key board again/anyways cool paper blast off cover on the intakes !
Drive shafts are two cv style joints 9 inches min. 12 inches max. Just ordered Mobile Jet2 oil today. Sumps look to be approx 3 to 4 gallons. maybe 2 quarts for oil coolers. Fuel pressure at the rails (nozzles) 200 to 230 psi. Lift pump from gas tank approx 15psi |
oil pressure to shaft bearings ? any ideas on the use/non use of the old exhaust ports from the piston slingers ? extra bilge blower vents.:chick:

Would ya beleave I kept the circles. Just thinking on coating the outer diamiter of the circles with some West system with a little filler to thicken it maybe put some Biaxle cloth on the inside. Skim it with some Epoxy Filler on the outside. Get Steve to come down with his airbrush and finish my mess. Or maybe I should just put smiley faces over them? |
Can't u-just mock up some small flame throwers/the only smiley faces needed will be facing forward from the driver/passenger seats !--?--- oil pressure to shafts N1+2 ? I believe "circles"

Yes oil system is a pressurised/ scavenge system. I will post a nice schematic out of the Turbine book for boneheads that Jim sent me.:D |
Don't be pickin on the bone-heads u-might need to hammer some-thing down sometime.:angry-smiley-044::D can't wait for the schematics !:cool-smiley-011:

Here is the pump located on the bottom of the combuster.
Also a break down of the filter system. The last picture is where I am interupting to put the Canton oit t stat. This operates at 215 degree which is 15 degrees above recomended oil temp. This is a big block chevy Marine t stat from canton it is above the boiling point of water to keep the milkywhite under valve covers down. This has no meaning to the turbine because there is no water. I am going to modify the T-stat by drilling two 3/16 holes in it to allow some bypass to lower the threshold. This is the same deal we did when it came to crossover chevys. |
No like drill holes, that is for venting air from system, temp. can actually spike up/down see what others think can't u-just get some nice 195's.ps maybe ok for oil temp/control but when u-say chevy cross-over are u-referring to the t-stat for water/combo/by-pass @ the front of the chevy block ? seen spikes in H20 temp with drill holes in that circumstance although lot's of guys try it. any thoughts ? maybe OK_4-U / ? --- off-base --- :sorry:

At the same boost level 8 pounds (33 percent over)There really was no difference. However when you bumped it up to 11lbs 46 percent over and we are talking pump gas Hold on.
I beleave it is because the centrifical weight of the Mooney 10-71 is alot lighter then the PSI. The PSI requires more crankshaft HP to spin. The PSI will just keep making boost 10lbs, 20lbs, 30lbs 40lbs. It actually runs cooler the faster it spins. You could put your hand on the side of it. Try that with a 14-71 BDS. Take a look at the size of one its freaking huge. Really in a nut shell if you want to make 1500 plus horsepower PSI is at the top of the short list. Most of the top engine builders will agree PSI is the best blower out there. If I Build another blower motor I will be topping it off with a PSI and Fuel injection. But I have gone to the DARK SIDE and I cant Freakin wait to start melting Snow:eek: |
hope you got some deep pockets bro. watch build it bigger and see how much they shell out for a turbine due to just salt water!

I really dont know Sh@T about them But after having lenthy discussions with FAA certified Turbine builders. The direct result of the damage occuring in the Discovery Video is Simply over heating the Turbine. They are also subjecting the boat to Extreme conditions Riding into the direct paths of rooster tails. They overide the thermal safety. (Red Button). Stay within the design limits Torque, Pyrometer temp and you have a 3000 hour plus engine. And should the theory be flawed. I am installing a custom KN filtration System which will eliminate most of the salt spray. This in combonation with the freshwater rinse should eliminate most of the Salt contamination. Dennis OSO member "The Menace" has Helfire a 46 Skater with t53s Ask him how many rebuilds he has to do running his boat. The US Coast Runs Turbines in all there search and Rescue helicopters. How many of them are falling from the Sky? To answer your original question. My friends call me T-REX cause my arms dont go to the bottom of my pockets when it comes time to pay the tab:drink: Inshort the video is Great for Geico and Arruda As I said before they are setting the standards on the short list. However dont always take what is viewed on a promotional video to the bank. |

Very informative thread. Keep up the good work and the posts coming.

They consist of au-02gauge. one for ground which attaches to the common boat ground buss. One for Start which goes to the start relays 24volt. And the last one which ties to the start/gen relay. (24volt Charge). There is also a little 12 gauge exciter wire which goes to the A+ terminal on the start/gen. When 24volt is applied to this the Gen Wire will start admitting 28-30volt 300amp charge. The next warm streak we get. We are going to attempt Droping these puppies in. |
Gerry, 1st off Happy Holidays to u-and all of yours ! :cheer: Man has this cold spell w/ice up n/Boston been horrific to say the least, ice dams on the roofs u-name it. Get off that back porch and come on down for a ride. We are supposed to have 35-40 boats running to Marco tomorrow for lunch weather permitting. Keeping my eye on that cold front so we may be driving instead. Gerry, using that loader looks normal to me. I have used Gradall's, back hoes, fork lifts, 1.5 ton flat beds with pickers, etc. It's all good. HaPpY NEw YeAr everybody !. |
Send some of that Hot air north!
I still have much to do. I left Sunday with just alighnment Awls droped into the Turbine Mounts. Spent the whole day yesturday in a 20mph wind chilling to low 20,s. Bolting and Alighning The mounts. Note to self Where long Johns While doing this. They are Mechanicaly attached now. Next will be the CV Joint drive shafts. Have a HAppy and Safe 2008 Brothers! God Bless! |
