New Vee Bottom Rules

We dropped in the 2nd motor today, should be testing the cat killer jr. by the weekend. 20 more days! woo hoo!

Guys...I think its very simple....
We are not trying to take SV away...
Keep SV..and let the manufactures keep making the SV'S faster and safer...and let the guys who can update the equipment in a short period do so...
The Class we are talking about can stay P2...we started talking about it becasue there are a lot of boats out there with F2 or SV power in older tech. We all weight close to the same and have the same power...we talked about starting this becasue to have a level playing field without a 40 to 45 foot boat with big HP come out and out run everyone...
You heard comments on here about the old SPIDERMAN boat...and yes there is no longer any SV 's racing in OSS...
when #6's were brought in it changed a lot...with being able to run different gears....to say well just put on #6's is not the answer...for $60k+ rigging....
There is only one boat running in P2 with big HP today and they have agreed to move up in class or change HP...
We are not trying to reinvent the wheel here...we have 2 National Organizations that has lost the SV class...for what ever reason....but we know its becasue the reasons we speak of here...
We have 6 to- 8 teams that want to race and have the same equipment and have boats that run around the same speed, have the same outdrives, can run the same gears and weight close to the same...it will cost us nothing to bring our boats to these specs..and there are many other boats that fit these specs...and any of them can win on any different day...
OSS is run buy the racers so I will use them as a example...becasue you always hear how the racers know everything... Well there is no SV in OSS...so what happend...
We all can talk about what will work...but show me the boats...
We on the other hand...are going to race one way or another...and we have heard race teams that are not racing tell us why there are not comming out...and its simple...they do not want to put anymore money into there older boats...they are ready to race but are only running around 100 to 103..so we have a different situation then most class's...we have the boats...
So to approach a Organizations and say we can bring out more boats and get some boats that are sitting out on trailers to come out is just a possitive thing...
It is not us that have killed the SV Class...
There are 4 or 5 SV's out there today that are running 110 +...the question is why are they not racing each other...
We are the ones that are still racing and keeping the boat count up...
Smitty is right on, proping down boats is not the way to go...
I could throw in a 1inch spacer and drop to a 28 inch prop in run in P3 in SBI or P4 in OPA....but are true speed on a lake with the Brovo's and 1:50 gears is around 98 to 100....along with many of the P2 boats running today...
If your boat can run 108+ run in the class that fits the speed...
We all know this stuff gose on...and its why a lot of teams don't even run anymore....
We on the othe hand have sat down with all the teams we speak of and have all talked, that we as owners would discuss what boat woudl fit and what one would not...we all have a good idea what SV are running what...we have raced against them...and we all know what the older SV's were running....
No one here can disagree that the SV's we have running with us right now with the Bravo's and the 1:50 gears are running within 2 to 3 mph within each other with around the same accelerations...is the closest compitition out there in a long while...the whole field can run the 100 speed...and that the older SV's out not racing today with the same set up will also run the same...
Again...there are at least 12+ SV's out there right now that fit these speed and specs....but will never come out and race SV's running 110+.....
I look at it this way...one boat in SV is not doing the sport any good...but 7 or 8 boats in a class matched up to the same speed...is better for everyone.....
Also....we have seen the racers Organization say if you bring 5 boats out you can start a class...along with SBI/APBA....
and we have seen people say build boats to fit class's....
well this is different...these boats are already built...and ready to race....
So again...lets look at the whole pics.
1. LOW OVERHEAD:
a. $600 entre fee's
b. less laps ( racing 42 miles vice 92 miles...less wear in equipment )
c. less fuel cost
2. BENIFITS:
a. we currently have 6 boats racing
b. there are a least 7 boats out there that fit the specs
c. prize money
d. they most closest spec class racing
e. great compitition from guys racing for over 20 years to the new race teams i.e. Redline Racing
f. pending the number of boat, I will add additional prize money
There are a number of ways to go with this to lower the cost...with a good boat count I would work on things like, getting all the teams in our class at leat one hotel room free for the weekend, free dinners fro the teams with apperances for all the teams, will set up local PR for us...and so one...
Like any business....we build a platform and build on it...and it would be a good thing for the racers to get involved...the Organizations are giving us a field to play on but we always cannot expect them to do everything... so once we have a class its up to the racers in that class to get involved to make the class promotable...and for us to do things to get the class to grow...
We can all sit here and complain on the way it should be run....but this would be a oppertunity to let some businessmen expand there clas to the next level instead of always putting it on the Organizations...
The word on the street could be called....PRO-V Class

The problem is not the classes available, it is the racer that parks a boat and doesn't race. If an SV doesn't like p2 then prop/gear accordingly and run p3, these new rules add for just one more winner ie ft lauderdale 10 classes with 19 boats making the start, 52.63% chance of winning as an average.( not pot stirring just looking for a better future for offshore) I hate to agree Bob B had a good idea with indexing or simply parity adjustments which are in place at OSS, although neither organization has had SV guys run long enough to get to that point, before a true racer would park the boat you would think It would take several ass kickings and by then parity would help level the field, so the problem is much deeper then starting another class, if you do some new faces will show up get beat and never return again. For some if you win once a year its a good thing its more about the competition and the race. I think most teams get into classes they can't afford or the expense exceeds the fun fator. Take SV for example don't spend money on sixes to be competitve or run pclass which may require horsepower upgrades and or sixes anyway or if it is really not about winning just run what you got........ or start a new class so we have another winner. Without TV, chance for real sponsors most will get in and out no matter how many classes you have. Spec series and divisional series with occassional joint races and a unified worlds somewhere would get us back to where we were, its all about the morale of the sport not adding the classes to create paper champions, early 2000s racers would do anything to get in a boat now they park them in the shed. Racers need to demand some changes not add classes.

I agree.....If anyone has a race boat that is still sitting on the trailer and hasn't been in the race...SHOULD get it out and race again!!! What's the point for leaving a race boat sittting on the trailer for how much time?!?!?!?! Being sitting in the race boat and racing against other teams is FUN!!! Wanna have fun? then DO IT!

Vinny...so racing has been at a stand still since the brake away with OSS...
You being a OSS member...and being you guys have added 4 more class's to your Organizations in 2 years...and less of a boat count then when you started....what is the answer....
Not to be a smart ass...but why did you guys not take that advise over the last 2 years....
How could this be a bad thing...last year there was only 1 or 2 P2 boats in SBI/APBA...today there are 6 with 3 more showing becasue of our talking to them...and remember there agreeance to our thinking.....how is that bad...these teams would have never came out...again we can all sit here and say this is what the racers should do...but you seen what happends first hand at that....
Propping down our boats into a class so we can win is not what we are looking for...again I for one can do that...but if you talk to the teams that are with us...no of us want that...
We feel we have the most level playing field out there in P-2...and we don't want to take anything away from the P-2 big HP Guys....
So if I approached OSS with 8 to 10 boats and you don't have a SV class you would not let us in...your crazy...you would be opening the door in a heart beat....you guys already did it with just 2 or 3 boats...and if I told you we could gewt more boats once we got started....OSS would be trilled....
You now give out what 6 or 7 checkerd flags with what 19 or 20 boats....so if we added 6 to 8 more boats you would not give out one more...
Guys we all agree on the same thing less class's more boats...and we will still be hear talking about it 3 to 5 years from now
AND IF WE ALL WANT THE SAME THINGS...THE FIRST STEP IS FOR US ALL TO RACE AS ONE....SO WORK ON THAT...in the mean time a oppertunity has come up with good potential and teams that want to particapate....maybe if we looked on all the positive things that could come out of this instead of looking on all the negitive things....you would find yourselve watching some more great racing this year with boats you have not seen racing each other in a long, long time.....
So Vinny...I ask for your help also....you have a lot of friends out there that fit this class we speak of....what would it take for them to come out and do just one race with us and see if they like it....and lets see if we can accomidate them....

Donz....I agree...but this is reality...telling someone to race there boat and throw money down the drain is just wrong...
That's like me to say...Donz...why dont you put up the $200k+ buy one and race it....
The question to you would be...if teams that are not racing but would come back out if we put together a class we speak of....and it gives the fans and the Organization an extra 5 to 7 boats and some great racing....what is better going foward what we have presented or telling guys who are not racing get you boats off the trailer and race so you can get you ass's kicked in your old equipment....
I'm suprised that so many people are aginst this....OSS has done this...and they are run by the racers....
We have the teams and it would also help some guys possabley sell there older boats by bring them out...and guys complain...
We have a sulution to bring out more boats....
How about since we have racers on this tread from OSS, SBI/APBA, OPA and POPRA talk about what should we do to take away all the politics to get the racers that have these boats that fit this class and are not racing them this year and get them also to come out and do just one race with us....
and you would see a 10+ boat class with great racing....

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR:
Smitty - OPA
Delany - OSS
Dole - SBI/APBA
To all work something out with SBI/APBA for a 1 race exabition in Sarasota....for this possible one race PRO-V Class.
To all to drop the politcal BS for just one weekend and all just show up and do one race with the boats that fit the specs of this class...we all assist any team that needs certain gears, props or so on to get there boat ready....and do this....
This is the backyard of many racers....not to mention any names but there initals are
The Delany brothers
Billy and Lisa Mattews
Bill McComb
plus all the other racers out there that have there SV's or F-2's or anyboat that that fit these specs..and race like the old days...4TH of July weekend, Sarasota, Centenal Park.....THE MUSCLE PARTY and just have fun racing.....
If Smiltty, Delany and Dole can bring any of us in this class racing any team that needs assistance to get them out to race with us..I'm sure we can get it done...
I know the O/C race is the week before...and I for one I'm going to do both....so OPA teams dig deep one time and see if you can pull it off....
This could be the big one....once again...

Gino, I still don't see why they don't just run P2 the way it is now? The boats are capable of the required speed with 525s and Bravos. The "big HP" boats should be moved to P1, just like On The Chip last year. I don't think a boat should go out thinking they are going to win every race without running 110% Ballz out. If you can win every race regardless of water conditions or set up you should move up and OPA has forced people to do this. I think everyone knows if you have more than 525s in a SV you are in P1. I hate to see a good class lose boats like ours just because a guy has his boat in the drive way and is afraid to run the crap of his boat.
#99
Wahoo....we don't want to loose anyone...
If the boats with big HP are willing to move up thats great...
We don't want to change P2...
but right now the only boats racing in P2 in SBI/APBA are the boats we speak of in this class...we were discussing this just incase some big HP guys want to race in P2...
We have already talked about teams like Scream Machine and others that have bigger HP then us but in older boats and only run 95 mph...
Understand....we DO NOT want to make anybody not race....we don't want teams not to come out because of the big HP guys...and since there are so many older SV's, F2's and other boats out there that fit the spec. it would be a good thing...but the Bravo and the 1:50 makes the playing field so even and gets a lot of boats to 100 mph and safe....
But remember P3 in OPA is P2 in SBI/APBA....
Boats like Wanted and others who normaly run OPA P3 would fit in while Smitty who i think runs OPA P2 OR P1 but both SV's
But we are also looking towards the furture...
If you talk to any of these SV owners none of them are going to run out and buy a new SV...so instead of these boats sitting around and only one SV racing in 2 Organizations combined....us SV owners are looking ahead to what we can do also....
Again...if this took off...and there was 10 + in a PRO-V Class all running the same specs we would want to keep all boats the same...
Engines: 525's
Drives: Bravo's
Gears:1:50
Speed:100 mph

Gino,
I don't understand a couple things.
How can McComb, Mathews, Muscle or any 38 Fountain fit in this class? Those three boats are capable of 110 plus or minus. Even if they run a 1.5 they put a 33 and be way over 100mph. Doesn't McComb have sixes. Are you going to Marathon? If so we can talk because I've been testing and racing the 38 for 4 years and they are still very fast. Ask Smitty. I'm not bashing just thought I could give you some insight about the 38 and its speeds. Oh yeah the #6 boat is a lot cheaper to run that the bravo but we all know the initial cost hurts a little. Expecially in the rough stuff.
Smitty are coming to Marathon???
