Reliable as the sunrise, but just as slow too. 18,000lb curb weight.

Do you still have the truck? Put some mods on it like twin turbos, Air Dog fuel filters, True Flow air filter system, intake, exhaust, ARP head studs, water/methanol, propane etc etc. Probly 500hp+ with all that.

for what it's worth, 04' GMC with an 8.1 gas motor, allison trans. Pulls the BT around no problem. 60k miles on it and zero issues.

I know the people at BT run mostly fords, but they take out transmissions quite a bit.

How about a big single turbo, marine 370 injectors, # 4 fuel plate if its P pumped, and a custom grind cam.

I purchased it last year, so before gm went bk. We were looking at the Malibu for the wife (I've always been a made in USA guy) the day before GM filed bk. We were going to purchase the following day; however, when GM announced they were going bk, we wen't and bought her a Camry.

What a sad and ignorant statement. All GM warranties are good, and have been so for long before the BK and will be long after (worst case they are backed by the gov't). But thanks for your "support".

I guess it just shows what an uphill battle it is dealing with American consumers.

I bought an 09 Yukon two months ago around the time of the bankruptcy. If you believe in the product then you don't get real concerned with the warranty backing it. I would buy another Duramax even if they were sold new with no warranty. My 03 never had a single visit to the dealer in the 3 yr/36 month warranty period....through 100K it had fluids/filters/tires only. The Yukon is my 10th new GM truck product and they have all run past 100K miles with no major parts changed. My trucks for work are all GMC, driven by employees (some I never even drove, I bought them and employee drove them away from the dealer) but I have to pay the bills and deal with the hassles of a down vehicle so I stick with what works for me.

One thing I search out though is I won't buy a truck made in Mexico(Silag is the factory). All my trucks are from Texas and my diesel came from Flint, MI. Some of the 1500's on the dealer lots are Mexican.

I believe all the Dodge trucks are Mexican, haven't seen a HD one made in America.

Threads like this, combined with seeing Fords waiting for wreckers roadside would prevent me from even glancing at a Ford truck.

I knew there's a reason I liked you.

And you're right, for the most part the trucks will last an absurdly long time. I'm gonna be looking at a beater truck for my winter car, and 150K miles on a GM truck does not have me worried at all. These powertrains will go for a looooooong time if maintained.

The GM trucks built in Silao are the crew cab half tons, and Avalanches I'm pretty sure. All HD's and all other 1/2 tons (and all GMT 900 SUV's) are built in the US (Flint, Arlington and Indiana I believe). So, if you need a CC 1/2 ton it will be from Mexico unfortunately (but it still helps keep the other plants going by keeping GM around with profits at least).

I have seen 500hp on a Cummins with single turbo. I don't what marine 370 injectors are but Industrial Injection builds some of the best 50 to 150hp injectors on the market. I don't know what a #4 fuel plate is and a common rail motor is not P-pumped. You must be talking about a 12 valve motor lol.
