Ford has had supplier problems with the radiators. I guess that's no surprise.

Don't go with a new Dodge/Cummins if you want reliability (pre-07's are OK). They are having huge issues with the new emissions equipment, with check engine lights coming on all the time, due to EGR, turbo, injector, and wiring problems. Some people said they don't even get home from the dealership, and the check engine light is back on. Yes, the basic engine is strong, but the rest looks like "let the customer test it" operation. A few of the people on the Cummins forums are in the process of buy backs.

GM/Duramax is the only fairly reliable HD diesel truck right now as long as you don't tune it.

I have both..and I see you commented on both the ford and Dodge threads..Im having more problems with both my Duramaxes vs my 6.4's at the moment..also they dont tow as much safely or with authority..and the list goes on. Im on the GM boards as well..and the Duramax has their fair share of problems..All 3 have problems..it all depends on whether you get a good one or not. Jeff

Jeff,

What's happening with your Duramax's?

I've been looking at all three boards for quite some time, and noticed fewer buybacks, and major problems with the Duramax, if left stock. Consumer Report's ratings also bear this out. I personally wish Ford and Dodge would get their quality up, because GM doesn't have a manual transmission anymore.

major items..injectors and idler arm on one truck and tranny and electrical problems on the other..One has 36k and the other 64-67k.....

minor items..interior leather hasnt held up..seats are wearing terrible, cant keep tires aligned in front, bad tire wear,.....I usually buy 4 trucks a year both my friends own dealerships and to this point have taken care of me. For 08 Ive had better luck with the Fords..its been slightly different through out the other years..No truck is perfect.

Jassman are those chevys the new body styles? I have an 07 classic and no troubles to date, but only use mostly to tow the Cig but about 30k on it now.
I have the bullydog and only run on performance and tow settings. I stay away from the extreme settting. cant be good.

My 2006 Dodge dually is the SLT so it doesn't have leather but my driver's seat shows absolutely NO wear after 62,000 miles. I keep hearing about all these quality problems with Dodges but I haven't seen any of them.

Talking about manual transmissions...I would take my Getrag 6 speed manual over any but a Class 8 unit.

2007 1/2 is where the real quality problems started, with the emissions equipment including diesel particulate filter and heavy EGR. I had a chance to buy a new 2007 (pre-DPF) with a manual transmission, and am now kicking myself. That thing drove beautifully, and was actually fun to drive.

Exactly right, it's not just Dodge. They put over 1,000,000 miles on the 6.7 testing it. That should tell you about the inherent faults of the DPF and EGR systems that they couldn't solve them.

Well Chuck I have been informed on this whole issue right from 5 min after the truck quit on the side of I90, I can not belive the run around you have got from a company that I have owned 14 trucks from. My 350 (knock on wood) runs great, but my next truck will not be another ford after really thinking about what you have been through. Just think that if you impact 10 people that would potentially buy just a new 350 @ 50K ??????? Thats got to hurt them at some point. How near is the truck to coming home so that you can use your
60K investment, since its been a month now? You should go spen the 150.00 and put a hitch on your rental focus and try to move the boat with it and see what ford thinks
