I think Gail was promoted, so I think we'll get someone else.

As far as where my case stands with the BBB(Better Business Bureau Autoline Program) I still am kind of confused. Here is a rundown of what has happened since I got the truck back:

Autoline contacted me and informed me that an F-450 does not qualify for their program and they can't help me. the GVW exceeds their arbitration limits. They did inform me that I could still pursue a lemon law case through the court system if I choose.

A couple of days later BBB called me and informed me that Ford would like to know if I would like to meet with an engineer to discuss my concerns and inspect the vehicle. I said that I would love that opportunity and have been asking for that since radiator number three. BBB said they would arrange it and get back to me with the date and time. Well BBB called me back and informed me that I can drop the vehicle off at the servicing dealer for the engineer to inspect it and that the engineer does not meet with customers or have any interaction with customers. The engineer will relay his findings to the dealers service manager and he would relay the findings to me. I informed them that I was not interested in this at all, and will pursue other avenues. The BBB called me several days later to see if I had reconsidered and would like to have the truck inspected. I declined and thanked them for their efforts. I informed them that I did have one question though, why was the amount of downtime never considered as justification for a lemon law case???? The representative then said " you know your right". So I am waiting for the date and time of my independent arbitration case against Ford Motor Company. I was told it would be the first week of September, but upon follow up today (on my part), it will more than likely be in mid Sept. I did run into the sales manager from the selling dealer and informed him of the pending case, and he told me "he already knew, and his service manager said I'm more than likely gonna win". What that means who knows??? Will they buy it back for the full amount, will they buy it back for an agreed figure, or will I get a 2010 and be the guinea pig for a new motor again??? Whatever the outcome, (unless I lose) will be better than keeping this truck and never know if it will make the tow to my destination or home.

Sorry it took so long for the update.

Im glad things are getting a little better for you. I am looking at all 3 2010's and the Fords new 6.7 is due appr. around April.. otherwise Ill get the 6.4 again. So far so good.. until yesterday, a supposed hose blew and coolant everywhere.. Ill keep you posted. Since this thread started and the knowledge that was gained, they replaced some hose for dripping/leaking coolant, as well as new radiators. I hope this is not major. AND.. then one of my guys over heated a clutch on my Allison tranny.. (168k mile)....not been a profitable 2 weeks.

DETROIT -- The first thing you notice about Ford Motor Co.'s new 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel truck engine is how quiet it is. Standing next to it, you wouldn't know it was a diesel unless someone said so.

The engine debuts early next year in Ford's revamped line of Super Duty pickups. Ford won't talk about horsepower and torque until the Texas State Fair on Sept. 24. But auto writers recently got a preview.

The engine is important. Ford lost customers because of quality problems with the current diesel, which is supplied by International Truck and Engine Corp. Ford produces the new diesel itself.

Ford's new diesel
Ford's new 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8
-- Optional on revamped Super Duty pickups early next year
-- Designed, developed and built by Ford
-- Weighs 160 lbs. less than the current engine supplied by International Truck and Engine Corp.
-- Features 4-valve-per-cylinder aluminum heads, piezo fuel injectors and an advanced turbocharger
-- Cuts emissions of oxides of nitrogen with a urea injection system

Ford engineers designed the new Power Stroke with various innovations:

-- Fast-acting piezo fuel injectors supplied by Bosch deliver as many as five shots of fuel per piston stroke. This nearly eliminates the familiar diesel clatter, improves performance and cuts emissions.

-- Aluminum cylinder heads with inward-facing exhaust ports reduce noise.

-- A single, sequential turbocharger with twin impellers delivers performance at low and high engine speeds, reducing turbo lag. The turbocharger, made by Honeywell, is mounted in the "V" between the cylinder heads.

-- A block made of lightweight compact graphite iron helps cut 160 pounds of weight compared with the outgoing 6.4-liter International diesel block. Ford buys the block from Tupy SA, of Brazil.

-- A urea injection system, also from Bosch, helps neutralize emissions of oxides of nitrogen. It's the first Detroit 3 engine to use urea. The chemical will be available at Ford dealerships, truck stops and auto parts stores. The urea tank must be refilled every 7,500 miles.

The engine is designed to last 300,000 miles without major service, says Adam Gryglak, the Power Stroke's lead engineer.

It has been in development for four years. It will be built in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The diesel is one of Ford's most expensive options. The current base F-250 Super Duty starts at $26,275 including delivery. The diesel engine package adds $9,325, which includes a bigger engine cooling system, a stronger transmission and bigger brakes.

Ford says 60 percent of Super Duty F-series pickups are sold with Power Stroke engines, or about 175,000 units last year.

I read this whole thread last night. I feel for you Chuck. I know what it's like to loose confidence in a vehicle. The link here is to a Ford web site much like this one. All ford owners might want to check it out, has a bunch of info.

I read about that 'compacted graphite iron' block. Sounds promising. I've heard estimates of 400hp/750tq from that motor. The problem is it's the same size as the 6.4 which is HUGE, causing the cab to have to be lifted off the frame for service. For occasional haulers like boaters it might be the solution to the Navistar problems.

For those of us who care about these issues, this article is depressing. America has lost over 50,000 manufacturing companies in the last ten years;

My truck(2006 Dodge dually) is built in Mexico too so I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

Well it looks like I'm getting bent over once again. I think that the BBB is run like a state run organization. Not one person seems to have a real grasp of what the policies are, or are not. After follow up calls(on my part) to check on my first week of Sept. arbitration hearing I was told that we are just waiting on an arbitrator in my area and it will now be around mid Sept. Then yesterday I receive an e-mail apolagizing for the miscommunication but the only thing I am eligible for is repairs (well no chit, the truck is still under warranty), but that a Ford engineer is willing to sit down with me and inspect the vehicle. I'm sure in a couple of days I will get another e-mail stating that the engineer will inspect the truck but not speak to me about it. I'm giving up on this free chit and need to decide whether to hire an attorney or just place my head in the sand and take it in the ass.

I finally got rid of my 08 F-450 fuel HOG. After breaking down on me with only 5600 miles I traded the sucker for a new 4x4 Duramax Chevy. Out of 6 Fords I have had only two good ones, both were 7.3s. 3 were 6.0s, turbo issues and the last one the 450. NEVER AGAIN WILL I STOOP SO LOW TO BUY A FORD.

Duramax/Allison is a proven powertrain. If you're not a member already you should join the GM diesel forum.

the Isuzu/Allison combo has it's share of problems, don't bury your head in the sand. Cummins? yeah, the 5.9 is reliable but you have to tolerate poorly built chassis and body to get it.
