just to give another update. Went to one of our boating spots this weekend thats about 40miles away. I had time so I decided to play with speed and see what MPG was. One way I set it at 62 and averaged 14.4mpg the other way about 56mph and got 15.9mpg thats towing 9500lbs. Impressed to say the least.

That is impressive. Im guessing it was relatively flat.
What gear was it pulling on both cases?

yeah flat to gently rolling hills. I didnt check gearing but my guess would be 5 or 6. One way was 96 degrees the other way was 88.

Just awesome Soldier.

To me the "big thing" is how high a gear the EB an pull on the hills.

To the guys saying its all about displacement are missing the point. It all about how much "displacement" is actually in the cylinders at any given time.

The EB as over 120 FT/lb more on tap than the 6.2 at 2000 RPM - which by no coincidence is right where the 373 truck is on the freeway when towing.

towing under 70 the truck is always below 2000RPM usually around 1800. Big thing like you said this truck gets 420 torque at 2500rpm and all of it, there is no huge curve

The 420 at 2500 is impressive.

To ME the fact that it has 400 at 2000 is even more impressive.

Also setting it apart from anything else in the category is the fact that it can deliver that at any altitude or temperature.

At 3000 ft and 110 degrees the NA V8's (all of them) fall of considerably and towing with them is like an office at the airport..- annoying.

I wouldnt compare this truck to a diesel as the diesel still has more power, but it pretty much outclasses any other half ton in the market right now. But the big thing is take any 3/4 ton gasser and it pretty much is tied or beats it in any category. The only thing the 3/4 gasser has is payload and really you can get the HD package in the 1/2 which puts it right at the 3/4 ton capacity.

Basically I will never try and compare a diesel to the EB, but to be honest Ive had both and cant really tell the difference. The thing with towing is you should never tow something over your trucks means. But looking out on the water there is very few boats over 10k lbs, which under 10k lbs if your towing with a diesel your wasting money, UNLESS you are the guy that tows hours on end.

Drove my buddy's Ecobomb truck from Terra Haute, IN back to Bloomington, IL on Friday after he picked up a new Mustang GT convertible at his brother's dealership. When I got home I wanted to kick the doors in on my 5.4L FX-4. It's no diesel, but it makes my 5.4L feel like a 2.4L.

im actually really anxious to see what the 2nd generation will look like and see if any competitors get into it. I can really care less what the displacement is or what kind of fuel it takes(prefer gas as diesel is 30-50 cents more a gallon) But I would like to see something that has 400hp and 450 torque and get closer to 18-19mpg city and 25 HWY. There close and I bet with some weight savings in using aluminum and more R&D on the engine its possible. I would also like to see a 3k payload which ford is close with their HD package at 2800lbs.
