So when is the best time to go ?

Depends on your definition of "best"...

Best party with drunk college students going crazy....Spring break (early march through mid April)

Best poker run, with the best display of horse power and party...Desert Storm Poker Run (late april)

Best time to get heat stroke...(July & August)

Best over the top/crazy/out of control holiday...(pick one: Memorial, Labor Day, 4th of July)

With that said, go on any weekend in between these dates and you'll see a busy mix of performance, party and good times with lots of areas specializing in hanging and partying (copper canyon, steam boat, park Moabi, sand bar, the channel, etc).

Best time to go period...I think mid sept. into early October. Weather still nice (high 90's) but the water is still really warm as well (mid to high 70's).

You'll have fun and enjoy it anytime I'm sure.

This is my second season out there and I have never came across a checkpoint and we go up and down the river from Needles to Havasu. Just don't drink too much, better to be safe because you never know.

we own a home in havasu, we go that same time each year for the last 5 years it very family frinedly, the weather is very hot. most days past the 115 mark. like he sid dont drink to much and you should have no problems.

My first post here, have lurked here often. Last year they had a check point set up at the I-40 Bridge up the river during weekends. From what the Paper said they will be setting up check points starting Mem. weekend. We love here, we only boat during the week, never on weekends.We will be out tomorrow.
