Heard from the scoops shop be here Tuesday from what's heard .....
|
Tim 88 bullet is making a few step plates for me since I can buy them in the correct size. Also bill from diamond marine said my cleats and ropes go out today. Again progress slows for more parts needed that I'm waiting on.

A few pics as it sits. Flooring to be installed Sunday AM then Monday or tues interior

Flooring is down, foot rests are done. Mushroom cleats came in and are at power. Scoops came in look like a$$ to say the least. I'll be paying more then what they cost just to have them straight and nice plus strengthen. Should have side panels lower side panels and bolsters into tonight.
|
Nothing can just drop rite in. Have to modify a few small things to get the interior to fit correct. The port side panels are on. Hopefully the bolster lights speaker and foot rest go in tonight. Doesn't sound like much but that would be an accomplishment at this point.
|
Baby steps... Most people don't realize how time consuming redoing a boat like this can be. It takes a lot of man hours and almost every step alone the way uncovers the need for some unique part or having something sent out for modification and/or refinishing!
Keep up the good work Mike! |
You as well as any one knows this isn't my 1st 2nd or 3rd redo

Stb side wired and trimmed ready for side panels lights and speakers.
|
Both sets of side panels are in. Lights are in and hooked up along with the speaker wired for sound and lights. Port bolster is in. Holes are cut for mushroom cleats. Should have the rest of the interior in tomorrow then wash it all once again. Getting close as of rite now still shooting for next weekend. Stay tuned.....

Interior Is finally in. Put fuel in wired the rest if the lights and subs. still waiting on mushroom cleats and grab handles plus the cabin door. Step plates are also in.

That's gotta make you feel better to see the boat out of the shop and behind the truck! Don't sweat the small stuff, you'll get it. That's what I try telling my self ... Then perfectionism kicks in! You should name the boat... 4th Rodeo....
|
J I'm cool with it. Doing it so I won't have a problem later. Want to make it rite as possable. Like I said should be water running on wens thurs. I don't need the rest of the stuff to run it but rather do it now then run it and probably slack and not do it.
|
Wensday / thrursday looks good for the 1st sea trial. Checked both motors again today for idle and tame the blower roll best I could. Couple small issues addressed and now seems all good. I should have the go pro all set up on the dash for the ride. Rob adrenaline junk will be out there also incase I need a haul back

Oh as for Unlimited Products website UP22.com, worse items I have ever bought. They air scoops they build took just about 4 week turn around was 2.5 weeks. Had to call often to keep them on track I'm guessing since they were shipped 3 different times supposedly. As for the product it self very poor in a whole. Cheap lay up, new build and it had repairs very weak. I thought they came from China. If this is USA made quality it's very poor at best. It's costing 2x the original price of the scoops to get them to par. Go hardwood and don't think twice. Sorry forvthe ran just a heads up. And I hope they google search there name and web address and see this hopefully they start putting quality in the parts and not just some resin and primer because the forgot the fiberglass
|
i want pics of this in the water ..want to send them to previous owner ..cant wait to here how this goes ..its about time this boat got finished and by the right guy that new what to do ..no crybaby either
|
Looks like today should be a good day. If the weather holds out we should be in. I'll have go pro and pics if it works out
|
Did she get wet yet????
|
It got wet but never left the trailer. Motors didn't want to stay running. Fuel pressure was everywhere , loaded up plugs were covered in fuel to the point you could dip the excess fuel off them into a bucket. Black on the plugs no throttle response either spiders until it cactus up or stalls. Some times feels as it's running out if fuel ect...
|
Thanks to the help of Gerry Knot Rite and George Old Man we should have a good 2nd shot at a splash. We shall see. Ince again huge thanks and block should be in the horizon. Just got done with the CC so my back up / tow boat is ready if needed. Gerry has a couple pics from today he may or may not post due to being a corn hole JIZZeppi......
|
Cleaned the carp out of the boat, going to try for another run tomorrow.....
|
Mike, Just a suggestion...drain a small amount out of both separators into a clear glass cup and let settle to see if any water content still exists before you go out. Then after your your run with the boat, do a plug check on each motor. If its a light gray to white...your good to go, if a darker charcoal but clean, you may
have to go from 13's to 24's only because of the 93 octane rather than racing fuel which you don"t need. You've got two sweet, husky sounding engines bud. Hope all goes well...try to enjoy the ride...that is one heck of a nice looking boat! Glad I could help you and Gerry, I really had a nice time. Go APACHE! P/S Don't forget that idler pulley. |
I think Gerry might have sent me some pics of the peanut butter and jelly you had growing in the carbs, sounds like you're good to go now though. LMK if you need the pics Mike.
BTW, with those super charged engines, you do NOT want to see 'white' plugs... if you do, it won't be long before you're replacing pistons! |
just when i thought i was done working on reciprocating engines they pull me back in!

We had a great day hanging out drinking corona and working on mikes Apache.

"Gerry its not taking the fuel when i whack the throttles" Mike said!
Really? http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psa28f5948.jpg |
Dam Gina!
Bad regulator one motor Cristal meth in his bowls no pun intended plugs blacker then the ace of spades http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps66a684d5.jpg |
Should have checked timing!
i prefer locked out in the neighbor hood of 30 on a non inter cooled but im old school. Thanks George for your help Mike maybe you can finally learn how to run a boat if you keep this long enough. Glad i could help Good luck and keep me posted |
Will do Gerry, unless you want to come down today. I'll bring my light and dist. Wrench to set them. If not play with it in block with scots scientific rocket astro glide pneumatic take on everything.
|
LOL!
G, what's your take on timing on a SC engine with IC's... say 8.5:1 CR? I was taking with a guy yesterday that said he tried his timing at 28° and said it was a limp pig. He said he's going back to 36°. I thought that sounded high for 93 octane. IDK what he's running for boost, but these are 1100's so I'm assuming they have to be pushing 8+ psi... |
And take it from me, CHECK THE TIMING BEFORE YOU RUN IT!!!! Saying "F- it, I'll check it later" can cost you an engine!
|
I agree.
|
32* with the proper heat range plug. Need to keep egt's cool just as much as control detonation
|
This top secret video just in from the Director of the NSA from a hidden toilet cam on the the Braagga Bridge in Fall Riv.
Reports have it as the United States Coast Guard failed to ketch the little cornhole in his all white go fast. Looking good Mikey! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTyG70NqLlU&sns=em |
So glad to see this boat back in the water
|
Thanks guys going to put some hours into it tonight and work out a few bugs
|
Scott....
Tommy says hes going to 31 degrees next. Engines start very hard at 36 degrees....yet fall flat at 28 degrees....going somewhere in the middle next. |
