Everything on that boat is new, and it's one of the few, if not the ONLY one that has the new top with faring, with the classic hull.
Here's a video of mine running a few mph over 80 inside the boat toward the end. It's smooth as can be once you get to the higher speeds, it's just a little tricky to get it up to them without a touch of porpose at some point, even if only briefly:
Here's the vid:

moved the boat into the shop now the heavy lift work is over..
photo 1 just getting an idea with one of the extra thrust tubs...
photo 2 is the boat hanging by a thread....
photo 3 gives you an idea why photo two and three are so bad, see the tie strap at the bottom I am connected to it and pulling the boat level...

using the twin disk data I have, I can push the 19 cig over 100mph using the arneson and prop I have with 750hp and bam 1:1... much less hp then other boats even with arneson's making that kind of speed. I have some props but there built for speed, and rolla's are not cheep, going slower may cost me more cash then using what I have and meeting the torque needs of the prop's... and the best test data I have uses the same prop I have and its worth a lot to not have to play with pitch.....
I have thought of trying to use the first 1:1 data from howard arnesons test boat 280hp 78mph or even using an efi 370hp... but will need to test props $$$$..
I have prop size and pitch for the very first test boat 1:1,
and the first with a drop gear 1:5.1..

well it is all on paper for now...
I have run # as low as 520hp @ 4400rpm to make 615fpt, and also hi as 750hp @ 5200 to make 725fpt to spin the 16 3/4 x 21% or 16 1/2 x 22 rolla's I have.. there is a range it's just tricky using older data with out clear engine data...
Truth fully when I look at 1:1 data side by side to 1:5.1 data on smaller, less heavy boats with smaller hp..
The drag coefficient change is so dramatic before and after plane that adding torque to over come plane for only a 200 rpm quicker plane seems rather costly in rpm and to top end speed... but who knows?
crusader 222fpt @ 5200 @ 1:1 for 70mph 14 x 16%
crusader 240fpt @ 5200 @ 1:1 for 78mph ????????
ford 460 615fpt @ 2999 @ 1:5.1 for 88mph 16 3/4 x 21%
arneson/twin disk data...
Be neat to make 100mph with as little hp as I can.. factory crusader efi 370hp to keep the 1:1 test alive... 120fpt for 22mph pick up??
373fpt @ 5200 @ 1:1 for ??? with a 2 year warranty..
but I'd need props..... 16 x 19% or some thing
with a bam that crusader will make 400hp a 150fpt pick up

Mine has the pad bottom. It is one of the few 1995's.
Yeah, the 100mph boat has the newer top, and the classic bottom. All of the rigging & instruments are new.

I have been setting up my work shop and painting the wrx see the photos "car is not in clear " was going to shot my 20' with this color but use it on the subaru.. I have just been slacking on the 20' that will change next week, I need to pick a color and chose a drive to run the asd6 or 1720..... Color wise I am leaning to the whole boat in a gold to silver color changing HOK base under red candy. maybe black in the insets?
Has any one seen a 358ci nascar engine run in a boat?
They seem all good on the inside for marine.
They make 800hp for 500mi at 9000rpm! the same motor will make a lot more miles at 5000rpm and 500hp.
The draw back is 12to1! but you can tune for e85 105oct and run a green 100mph for $2.60 off the pump!!!!! I can have the pistons changed to 10to1 or 9 1/2 for a loss off a 200hp and about 5k in a proper nascar rebuild cost and maybe the 100mph mark in the end. but rebuild will be the best bet if done for real.....
It'd kinda be neat to make 100mph for under 10k!
boat cost,,, 700
title,,, 120
yard fees,,, 2000
materials,,, 600 + my old left overs
arneson,,, 500 or free pending on drive I use
nascar engine,, 5000 with 200mi
labor,,, free only 1000's hours of my life.
I'll have some cash left for race fuel, but I'll need some one to clock me I'll have $$$ nothing $$$ left for gauges.

Thinking about rigging...
I have some options
#1 Arneson makes a helm kit that includes: helm, reservoir, two lines, power steering pump, cooler. The system is rated for use with the 1720, 1721/asd6 at its max torque rating 700fpt, the single ram kit cost only $630 new + freight...
#2 I do have the same used arneson steering kit all ready I was thinking about using but its used..
#3 I have a new Latham LM14 system.. The LM14 helm is made for two #6 drives and will give you about 4 turns lock to lock with the two drives using four #6 cylinders. With only one ram I'd only have about 1 turn lock to lock, I think that is too touchy. I was thinking about how the capilano helms I used in my bertram have a nob connected to a proportion valve that is in the helm that controls the amount of turns the wheel makes lock to lock... I was thinking if I run the Latham LM14 set up and add a proportion valve on the fluid line connected between the helm and the input side of the ram I should be able to control the psi and the turns lock to lock. That will give me the very cool choice of setting the lock to lock as I want... Has any one done done this with a full power helm???
