Stop thumping on your chest so much. I think Phil gets the point. He put a ton of time and money into the boat and he is probably going to lose, but I don't think he needs some guy with a blown up Mistress and hard on for everything he does saying I told you so every chance you get.

It really makes you look like an assshole, and I doubt in real life you are.

Really? Have YOU even read the whole thread.... doubt it or you wouldnt post this....

Would you let Phil work on your boat? You are comparing this to Steve jobs? Come on!

come on... these pictures are from the ''during' prep and painting... that's not the final result ! of course it might look bad like that... actually any paint job looks bad at some point!

I have not seen the finished product myself, so I can't judge the final result, but I sure won't judge the final result looking at prep pictures!!!

I am Billy, I have been reading this post for a while, I actually prefer a diffrent brand of boat, that doesn't matter.

I understand the natural need some people feel to protect someone, but I do not believe this is the case, get this kid on the straight and narrow and 10 years from now he may be the best thing to hit offshore boating ever.

Right now he is not ready, he thinks he is and a few people tell him he is, and pat him on the back and say that a boy...but nope not ready

wrong o there buddy, that paint is still on the bottom to this day get your facts straight before you go firing off there Ace.

Well unless he is out there sanding it off right now....

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 04:32 PM

Lets see the finished product. Those pic are the surveyor I would say its finish no? Im going fact not bashing or banging. I see the bilge blower siting in side a string, over spray on the switch panel, over spray on the floor, no compass, cracked paint under the switch panel on the dash ect. Lets get finished pics upclose and away on the trailer and then make an educated decision. Fair ?

He wont post them, never has... if you are selling a boat, and having someone pay for a survey, it BETTER be final product, that was final enough, if it was sanded and in primer I would say it was during.... HACK JOB

No I wouldn't, but I haven't supported him since this whole thing began.

BUT, instead of going through here berating all the members like Rick and Matt can you disclose who you are? Did you go look at it and this is what you found?

I am very curious.

Perhaps you are right Stinger, lets give OP benefit of the doubt.

But seats can be seen in pics that they are installed so one would think it is done, maybe OP would be so kind as to put his survey up that he had for all of us to see. The complete survey :)
Description:
Here is a just finished Cafe done by Upstate Powerboat. We are a new shop located out of the syracuse NY area. We built this boat to bring it out to LOTO for the shoot out. It was previously being built for a client who backed out. So now its for sale here. The boat was stripped to a shell, and brought back to where it is now. Complete new PPG paint. Simplified the bilge and rigging. Brand new interior as well. The only thing not addressed was the gauges. The boat is an 89, two owner. clean title. 454/420 TRS boat. 344 orig hours. gimbals are tight! no slop! It runs 62 on GPS in 1' chop with full tank and 2 people. with 21p 3 blades. comes with brand new spare set. More top end can be had with different props. We put a leak down on both motors and they checked out and both motors run strong!! The cuddy is a 8/10. and is perfect for a weekender! comes with brand new spare props with prop holders. There is no cracking at all on this boat. It was actually in AWESOME condition when i bought it. The orig owner kept it at a marina out of LI and he just ran it. The marina upkept the boat. Though it was neglected for some amount of years before we got out hands on it and brought it back to life. There is too much to list, please call and we will walk you through the boat. The boat comes with a HEAVY duty trip axle trailer. 6 brand new bearings and 6 tires. 2 new fenders. new lights. etc etc. We have many, many more photos please dont hesitate to ask! Some of the photos are before final assembly! The boat can be seen any time just call ahead to schedule a time. The boat has had a survey last week and can be made available. it has 0% moisture, sea trail went awesome. we deleted the mechanical fuel pumps and went with electrical. easier starting. if you run the tanks dry, its very easy to get started again. Just a few of the new parts on the boat 2 new oil coolers 2 new sea pump impellers and assemblies all new belts 2 water circ pump deletes. working thermostats carbs rebuilt new coils/ packs/ wires billet sea pump pullies 2 elec fuel pumps. new gaskets from the ex mani's up If a cafe isnt your style, we can build any boat for any budget. we have a carbon 92 gun coming next week, and a P29 soon after. contact about custom paint as well! Call or text any time. I love talking boats, but please, if you dont have the funding, or intentions to buy it, don't waste our time please, or if "your looking for your dad" then have your dad contact us. THANKS! THE ADD WONT LET ME POST MORE THAN 1 PHOTO. PLEASE CONTACT FOR MORE PHOTOS via text or email.

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 04:48 PM

Sorry but there is so much wrong with that Ad Description where to begin is difficult. Why post on your ad about other boats and that you love to talk boats. Odd insert there. New coils and packs, coil packs? not so much on these motors. 6 brand new bearings, so you did out side or just inside or many flip a coin at each spindle? I digress

Interceptor 10-03-2014 04:49 PM

The transom picture showing the drain plug looks as though he didn't remove much and sorta taped around things. I know, it's a small area that most will not see but sadly that probably is a photo resume of his work and ethic.

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 04:55 PM

Actually he tried to tape around the gimbals transom assemblies water pick ups IE all on the back of the boat. If motors were pulled just unbolts it all. Seals are cheap and new is better as they wont be dry and brittle and possibly leak. Plus with hardware removed at minimum you can rattle can them to make it a little easier on the eye. And speaking of the drain hole, that seems to be an oil stain draining out and onto the hull. The Power steering didn't work so I would venture to say that's PS fluid leaking out and down the keel.

Love all you guys out there defending this work, and backing this guy, come on take a look at what you are defending.. read this post from page 1 like I did.. yeh it has gone on way to long and kind of gotten out of control but, do any of you guys want your boat to look like this when you get it back after a restore.. Nope don't think so, Phil do us a favor take a couple of years and work with a professional who can teach you a few things, then get back in, start your own business when you actually are ready, with the drive you have you will go far.

You guys are tearing each other apart over what? The haters here are 100% correct in calling him out!! All you guys blowing him and telling him hey good job buddy, blah blah blah, that is what is wrong with society today, everybody is a winner...... No,No,No you need to earn respect not do half ass shabby work and make a couple friends who feel sorry for you because your 19...seriously?? This kid has caused full grown men to act like children.

Looks great!! I totally understand why phil is sick and tired of all these tire kickers. He is giving that thing away at 30g. The audacity of some guys, to not jump on such a great deal. Dont they realize its a CIGARETTE! How can you not want to feel the wind in your face at 59mph, the superb feel of cable steering! A little rust on the engines, and some old gauges, gives it character.

The survey said 0% moisture. I think the surveyor might need to actually turn his meter on next time. :nicethread:

ICDEDPPL 10-03-2014 06:01 PM

Who the **** is this this DoucheMaster A-hole with his 7 posts? Where is your boat redo ACE?? Do you even have a boat or just another wanna be with a Crownline?
You talk a lot of $hit, put your money where your cockhole is and lets see your work ACE.

btw you haters might not realize this but no one EVER said his work was great, its a great deal, the paint is awesome etc, etc including me.
My issue is how deliberately you people especially FF go out of your way to knock this kid down. Pathetic and sad. I ****ing can`t stand bullies

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 06:08 PM

Yo IC do you credit this workmanship as quality tgatvyouvwoujwabt, ex spect, and pay for? No bull ah!t needed just yes or no, honesty here not bashing but truth

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 06:14 PM

As quality work you would pay for, want done on your boat and back this and refer the quality of work to others ?

ICDEDPPL 10-03-2014 06:19 PM

Thats my whole point, I don`t care if its quality or not, the person who writes the check has to decide that. I~m not a buyer,
Am I going to post 3 times a day how bad I think hes going to fail and how much of a bad job I think he may have done??
Am I going to join a forum and my first posts are going to be bashing every member here??
Am I going to try to figure out if his dad helped him out with $$ ??
Am I going to try to ruin every for sale add he posts on Facebook???

NO!

Please someone explain to me what I`m missing?
Did Phil come to your house and bang your sister? Does he kill baby puppies in his spare time??

Full Force 10-03-2014 06:57 PM

It's only because he said he was going to do it on a month, sell for 60,000, and show us all how his quality would out do anyone's here and he was a cocky dik about it! He has shown notjing but all is "haters" we were right!

You can't tell me buyer or not that it is a quality job.... It's not

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 06:57 PM

IM nearly bringing to light the fact he is not putting the quality of work out he claims / brags about. Any all the BS that is thrown around at how there are boats lined up to be "custom painted" by him. As also stated before he does all the work which can't happen at all. This is, I believe, a community looking out for one another. Bashing is pages back. This is to point and make light if the work that is actually being done. No more guessing or speculation. There are the pics and evidence. If these are from " in processes of" then what's finished product,
A$$hole mike , I know at it again.

Full Force 10-03-2014 07:09 PM

If the work showed quality I would eat my words, it does not and is very far from it... If he listed boat with a fresh paint job that's it and notjing else and says "could be better" tem it would not be a lie...

So to the guys that defend him, you want a fellow boater to drop off his SKATER, Fountain or Cig and get totally fukked over and not be able to get
Money back because he destroyed it? We called it and it happened.... But we are wrong.

Full Force 10-03-2014 07:10 PM

If I was getting my ass handed to me I would be defending the fuk out of myself, where's Phil?

Unlimited jd 10-03-2014 07:15 PM

My guess is he's not taping something off before he paints it

Sick Stinger 10-03-2014 07:18 PM

^ starting a full resto on a carbon Cig of course

ICDEDPPL 10-03-2014 07:18 PM

Ok so I guess a copy of the survey has made it to me .. Phil if you don` want this out there please PM me and I~ll take it down.

From what I have read Phils says it needs a few things especially gauges... here is a Professionals opinion:

XV. FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
SAFETY DEFICIENCIES: The bilge blower needs to be connected properly.
USCG COMPLIANCE: Engine compartment ventilation (blower motor).
SURVEYORS NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS: The vessel appeared to be in above average condition overall and has obvious recent paint updates to the exterior. The overall condition of the exterior gel coat and paint on both the top deck and hull is excellent. There are few blemishes which are considered to be from normal use of the boat. The paint on the bottom of the hull appears new in the forward half. However, from midship aft the gel coat appeared original. The rear quarter of the vessel as well as the transom has been painted red. The red paint from the transom over-sprayed to the hull bottom.
The bilge area appeared to be in above average condition and appeared to be well maintained with the exception of power steering fluid residue being present from recent breakage.
The upholstery in the cockpit and engine hatch is new and has custom embroidery.
There were gauges that were inoperable as well as inaccurate and the instrument panel and entire gauge cluster appears to be the original. It is in need of updating/replacement. Specifically, the fuel switches are disconnected and wired to the keys, the bilge pump switches operate only in automatic mode, the engine compartment switch appears to operate however the light is inoperable, both fuel gauges are stuck at 3/4, the speedometer does not operate and the Starboard water pressure is inoperable. In addition, the panel light does not illuminate behind the Port volts, Starboard oil temperature and the Starboard water temperature gauges. Also, both tachometers are “sticky” and only operate properly by lightly tapping the face of both.
The access panel beneath the rear bench seat is in need of hardware replacement to secure it properly.
The Passenger bolster seat is in need of a forward Port side bolt in order to secure it properly to the deck.
The TRS outdrives and Mercury Kiekhaefer planning tabs appeared with typical pitting and corrosion. They have been cleaned and painted. The tab indicators at the helm operated properly with newly installed cables. The clear cover on the indicator gauge at the helm is badly weathered.
Although the vessel has undergone major updating and is able to be used in its current state, there are numerous updates and repairs still needed in order to complete the restoration.
Structurally, the vessel appeared to be in excellent condition where accessible.
1.
structurally excellent

2.
Overall condition above average

3.
Overall condition of gel coat, paint and deck excellent.

Interior:

JOINERY AND FINISH: The joinery is molded and in above average condition.
CABIN BRIGHT WORK: Carpet covered and in above average condition.
INTERIOR BULKHEADS: High quality marine grade vinyl and carpet covered in above average condition.
STORAGE AREAS: The drawers, cabinets, lockers, and shelving are FRP molded and appear in above average condition with exception to the ice box. The molded ice box wooden lid is split and in need of repair or replacement. The support is also in need of replacement.
HEADLINERS: Headliner material in the cabin is high quality marine grade vinyl, molded FRP and cloth. All materials appear in above average condition.
CUSHIONS: Cloth material throughout and in above average condition.
FLOORS: Floor coverings are snap down carpet. The cockpit carpeting appeared in above average condition.
WINDOW COVERINGS: N/A.
ACCOMMODATIONS: V-Berth is forward. Material is in above average condition.
HEAD/SHOWER: Head is on Starboard side and is full fiberglass molded insert with molded toilet. The area appears to be in above condition however, there was no power to the head and there was no way of testing the head for proper operation.
FAUCET FIXTURES: The faucet fixture and sink were not operable.
INTERIOR LIGHTING FIXTURES: More than adequate lighting fixtures are present. The light in the head is not operable and two cabin lights were without bulbs.

So yes there is overspray (GASP!!!) on the bottom of the boat and the trailer is crap but usable(made it from New York to LOTO and back)

Honestly, Id rather finish this boat that the pile I bought. Lets see this fall: rip out 2 gas tanks, redo floor, interior, and full exhaust for 2 motors , another 10+gs down the drain and winter projects haven`t even begun. Don`t even remind me about the motors and drives last year and that boat just needed some "finishing touches"
Some gauges and switches and a bit of over spray?? I`d fix that before lunch .

Full Force 10-03-2014 07:22 PM

Post all pics of the restoration... Pics are worth 200 posts
