Bay Point, our daughter has friends in there with a camper now.
|
Good times out there !!! Getting ready to shoot the bottom of boat today !
|
You are doing a fantastic job . I have one observation. I was always under the impression that one should not use fiberglass mat with epoxy resin . I was told that the styrene in the polyester resin would break down the binding agent that holds the mat together and the epoxy resin would not .
Was I mistaken or are you matt compatible with epoxy resin ? RG. |
From the research I have done west system epoxy is compatible with mat. It has the highest bonding qualities so for the bottom of the boat it’s a great choice. The small fractures I’m fixing are so thing I totally could have left but when we’re going this far why not ? We’re paint the front portion of the bottom not the back running surface due to it being blue printed and I don’t want to paint over all that. Trailer is 100 percent done and came out great. Boat is completely wrapped in awlgrip 545 whip epoxy primer and bottom os being painted Sunday. Let it sit for a week then back on trailer !

Bunks this weekend. Rest of boat has been blocked sanded and hand sanded for about 100 hours it’s getting loaded back up headed to paint booth Friday !next week !
|
Daaaaaayum that’s coming out nice!!! Way to go. Can’t wait to see it all together. Gonna be SIIIIIICK!
You decide on the final paint? |
I sure did….. lots of meetings with the painter lots of color charts lots of test panels but we finally found the perfect solution. You will see soon enough!!!!!!! Can wait to start rigging. Had a small moter set back turns out you can’t run distributors on 10-71 with a normal intake didn’t find out till they were all together. Sold my intercoolers already so that was fun but got it figured out. Ended up going with a new pair of blower shop 871s there all together and waiting for bilge to dry
|
|
!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Fantastic! question, why’d you get rid of your chillers? Height issue? |
Yes the hatch is the twin step 575 hatch didn’t want to cut and put scoops interior is all done didn’t want to modify it . Not spinning blowers to hard moters are 509s with good cams and with 8-71s low boost should make 700-750. Plenty of power lol
|
I went with 8-71's as well and I also removed the chiller. Running 5 lbs of boost @ 765hp.

I am not impressed with the maps on the Garmin GO7 I have ... look similiar to that one.
Also next unit I`m getting will have some knobs, the touchscreen is a real fun time to try and hit while youre getting bounced around. |
Dan the GO7 is a simrad not garmin.
Garmin is the easiest to use, most user friendly. If you can operate an iPhone, you can operate most functions of a garmin. That said they are not necessarily the best for every application. |

Man after about 60 hours of block sanding spraying tracer coats and more block sanding we filled in all the clear holes for pop ups filled in the bow light and such hand sanding all the tight areas last thing left is to put 3 coats of 545 awlgrip epoxy primer on deck load back on the trailer and off to paint sep 9th is the day she leaves !!!

To be honest it’s been a ride for sure I went back tonight and scrolled threw the thread it’s amazing how much I have done to this rig. I’m a short time this rig will be taking a trip to get color. As well as bring home another boat that was bought by a good friend of mine. We will document that as well! I’m sure he will start a thread on his new ride as he just joined oso. He will be slowly fixing up his new ride as he uses it. I can confidently I really thing spring 2023 my project will be on the water
|
Looking forward to seeing the rigging and pictures from first test ride in spring of 23' Thanks for posting it's been fun to watch it all come together. LOL dont forget You Tube -
