5PMSMWHR 05-29-2009 10:43 AM

I'm easing into the season took the jet ski out last Sunday on the River. dropping the boat off at my guy Sunday, splash on the 5th. The way the weather looks the next week I ain't missing anything on Ontario other than 60 degree temps and wind....

Rippem 05-29-2009 03:22 PM

a week ago thursday was the nicest day of what looks to be a 3 week stretch.
spent the day on the lake. low 80's, not a cloud in the sky.
went out to main duck, and cruised around the galloos.

I thought you Ponders were real men, boated in bad weather, chit in the sand and all that. Much in contrast to Boathouse Boys such as myself.

WTF, did the Mrs. say your azz was parked till the sun came out? :D

trim was an easy fix :eureka:

trailers' fine where it is. I'll put it inside soon. Waiting for Tom to take his boat and skis this coming week, rinse the floor and then...

boat, truck, and trailer all checked out 100%
felt good to get out and do some running!

Progress has been made, boat is at my "guys" place to get started, etc... Went to Oswego Harbour after we dropped the boat off, Ontario was howling over the break wall. The local Coasties were headed out in one of their stainless hull patrol boats, could not have been fun....assuming no issues we should splash Friday pm, supposed to be 76 and sunny.

What's with the my "guys" deal? You can't start the thing by yourself?

But then you can't spell either .............. Horbour? Try Harbor, your spell check must need a guy as well. Or is that a Beaujolais thing! :drink:

P.S. I really think I've got the 32 Sunny's outclassed ! :rolleyes

Putting the hours on!! That's what we're doing. Old school boating, looking at the beauty in the 1000 Islands at 45 instead of wide open. As a amtter of fact, the only thing that's been wide open are my eyes! I remember why we love to boat! Up to about 6 hours of running time and about 10 hours of just hanging out. The weather hasn't been real good, but like they say, a bad day of boating still beats doing nothing at all (or work for that matter). Looking forward to some more company on The River soon.

What do your schedules look like?

Dave

So how's the relatives making out on the Sea Ray? They do a sea trial yet? Sounded like the numbers were going to work out for them last I checked.

A cluster fock in general, the 4th is looking good though, in that it's my traditional show up date :drink:. Been out a few times down on this end of the river and might eventually make it up there if the weather would cooperate. Had planed to cruise up saturday and stay over but mother nature screwed that. So we ran around sunday for a while and called it a day when the rain started. I am begining to remember why I moved upstream years ago.

I could use a good "Prop guy" , any suggestions on that one?

Just talked to Axa on the phone. Axa may come part way and meet us on the way up to the Bay. If the weather is good, a night over would be great. I haven't made the run from the Pond to the Bay in years. Hope I remember the way!!!

All right professor, The Harbour in Oswego is spelled as in my post, maybe in the north country it is spelled without the "u" or possibly Horbour. You bathe in a crick, don't cha?:grinser010:

Bird and Mike, just keep in touch and I'll meet you where I meet you! I'm in!

5PM, thinking about making the trip? There is a TON of space at the Riveredge, and I think the new owners thought it out a little...Something like $1 a foot a night!! Ask Twins and Upstate what it was! Love to have you all!

Dave

Those two new rides are both Pachanga Mike's. I don't know about that guy, he's like a procurement machine lately; Poured thousands into the 'Changa, new Mustang GT, two small "spare" boats, garage extension, the list goes on.

He's holding out on me. There's a little cash cow someplace on his property!!!:drink:

Mr. Webster says the City of Oswego needs a new spell guy as well. They are on the wrong side of the Atlantic.

Herings might be interesting, but I recieved a tip the other nite from a Vermonter about something that work out real well on the same set up I have and I may persue that next. The one step foreward, two steps back program is begining to wear thin for me and my wallet. :(

Ever come across a number that is acceptable for run out on the hub/barrel of a prop? Like in set up with a dial indicator and spun.

Like how much and where are you measuring?

Is there any vibration AFTER you get on plane?

Dave

If you measure it while on the shaft, you won't know if you have actual prop runout or shaft/bearing runout or slop. You'd have to mount the prop on a precision lathe or some other such machinist's set-up to get accurate readings.

At the base next to drive, actually the cut back section that goes inside the lower. At the end, opposite obviously. All with a dial indicator with prop mounted and torqued to 55 ft lbs.

Nothing to do with prop slip chatter. Just trying to science out some things, there must be some kind of between "here and there" number for this.

What's up with the 32 Bravos? For sale?

In response to Bird's post

Prop shaft run out is not an issue here, was checked as well and is about half of the Merc allowable spec. I do understand where you are going here, the total would be inclusive of both making it hard to determine what was what, Right?
