I'm still banking on the beak boat.

Reasons:
Cabin will be gutted
Windshield removed
Cleats taped over aerodynamically
10 gallons of fuel on board
no coolers, fat towels, shoes, fenders or lines on board
snap-in carpet removed
boat launched 4 minutes before flag drop to assure no extra moisture weight
Sam nor anyone else allowed to go along
Pete will be wearing only a Speedo and doo-rag
Finally, Pete only weighs half what Dave weighs.

That's awesome Bird .... Keep it up .....
Don't forget the ole'Ragged doll up that will be put on the hull for the super duper extra clean speed coat of wax so there is no friction on the water ..... no water molecules sticking to him I might add .... That's one Mo Fo fast ride beatch ....

"Almost" only counts in horseshoes 5P. You boys take the EGG on your face sunny side up, or over easy? The cook says she needs to know in advance. You pizz her off and you'll get them bent over and not easy, she's on my side.

Thanks Bird! I knew I could count on you. Chef Sam says to tell you any way you want them, side of bacon or ham, hashbrowns, and toast, on a plate, served with a smile.:D Oh, regular or decaf?

BTW, Burbon is an acquired taste, one that comes with time and circumstances in ones life. At this point in my life I'm pretty dialed in, dishwater ain't ever gonna fly. :drink:

I actually believe he will be launching from the travel lift artificially on plane and out of the hole at about 5200 rpms. Boat version of a pinks style smokey burnout. Been awhile since I saw smoke in the travel lift :D

Team Formula is still gathering parts for the "Boat Off". Motor number 1 is off the dyno and polished/ shrink wraped and ready to install. Oh how I would love to brag about the results....Just not yet though. As for 5PM, I think he was doing all the talking...I was just smiling. :drink:

Team Adrenaline Rush has to take the front seat right now. All this pressure to be at Biloxi with a boat that will finish the race and all. Off to Utica tomorrow to finish the motor install and drive. Hope to fire it up and do an electrical check tomorrow with hopes of testing next week in NJ. We have a safety boat and crew lined up and several props to try.

Just found out that the Speed Channel and the local media have set up several interviews with us starting on Thursday when we arrive in Biloxi. I didn't know we have to attend meet and greet's every night either. Man, I'm exhausted already. Gonna be a busy summer between the Bay and the Race circuit.

That's all for now....Gotta get some rest.

Dave

PS...Great day last Sunday!

Frankly I'm looking foreward to this summer, probably more so than in quite a few years. The rental units have come thru the year in real good shape, which means I have way less work to do on them before the next batch of future Einstiens move in, and pretty much filled for next year. Life is good! New boat and gas money, now if we can get rid of Old Man Winter life will be real good. :D

I did notice that. Do they plan to run it out of Oswego Harbor? Would seem a little tough to pack a poker run into the middle of H Fest, where will the dockage be? You should jump right in on that, a PR or two will sharpen up the boatin' skills in a big hurry. They can be the nautical equivalent of survivor 101.

FYI Boys,

Check out the latest on the Fountain forum and the Fountain Powerboat home site. Fountain purchased Baja from Brunswick today. So much for all the BS that Brunswick held controling interest in Fountain by some, and the BS that Fountain and Mr. Reggie were broke.

I'm already an "Outlaw" in the warm, fuzzy, family experience boathouse.

Once this is over we are going back to what our mother company Brunswick does best ........ bowling ...... so don't wait .....

"Larry the Cable Guy Buys Controling Interest In Formula Boats"

The Redneck Gazzette reports that Larry has recently purchased control from the Porter family. In an exclusive interview Larry says the first changes he will make will be to change the long standing Thunderbird to a good old all American Crow, and begin the sole use of plaid vynils thruout the cockpits, as well as to totally redesign the clothing line in an effort to capitalize on the redneck market segment. Larry stated plans are to market thru heavily trafficked retailers such as the local Rent-A-Centers and Wallmarts. Also at the interview was Larry's investment partner Ron White, long known for his "You just can't fix Stupid" line. Ron, scotch in hand, stated that while he and Larry have not figured how to "Fix Stupid" they aim to cash in on it, and Formula appeared to be a solid start in attaining that goal. Ron, three scotches into the interview, said the company will soon hit with their new finance plan modeled after the rental industry, for example he said, the new 353 CrowTech model can be had for $10 bucks down and $10 bucks a week for the next 99 years, tax, title, and repo fees not included.

Now I don't care who you are, that there is a real funny rumor. Better start tearing them there shirt sleves off boys.

Hey Ragged, get the story right. There's only one L in Walmart.

5PMSMWHR 03-21-2008 11:54 AM

Maybe Fountain will adopt that slapping feeling ya feel in a baja under your feet........wait a minute, fountain drivers aren't tall enough to touch their feet to the deck so that can't be a concern....someone in the fountain design shop obviously confused bolster seat with booster seat............and I believe Larry the Cable guy resides in NC.......

5PMSMWHR 03-21-2008 12:03 PM

From the Baja forum.

Reggies laying off 285 workers and '08 is the last model year for Baja.....

...........We believe, however, that Baja and its dealers will ultimately benefit from being a part of Fountain Powerboats, a company that, like Baja, is a leader in high-performance boats."

I like the comparison :D:D:D

5PMSMWHR 03-21-2008 12:12 PM

interesting banter on the baja forum......will we have to buy gold chains and bad toupees, etc..... now that there's funny....one guy asked if the affiliation with Fountain would earn Baja owners more respect..........:evilb:

Pete,

How long have you had a subsciption to the "Redneck Gazette"?
I will be interested to see what ole'Reggie puts in his quarterly news letter to all of you share holders. It will read something like this ...... "Fountain a new breed of performance boats" "Shaped like a Bird , quality of a Baja, powered by Mercury , resale like a SEA RAY ......
Looking forward to a joint venture with many years to come with the Biggest name in bowling ...... Brunswick ......
We are going to have the market covered ..... so hurry and buy more stock now ......

LOL .... LOL .....

P.S. How many Walmart greeters does it take to dock a FountainBajaMercury performance boat?

I believe Larry resides in the Sunshine State/Florida, but hear he and Ron are planning a move to a Decatur suburb in the very near future. Did you miss the latest rumor? I also heard Larry and Ron are going after a major bass boat manufacturer, and plan to assure all Formula buyers have rod holders and a place to keep their beer and dead fish.

FRMULTR, Wallmarts is the southern spelling for the retail giant, and it's not the plural of it either.

I asked if that was the case.

it might be true that they don't today...
but the terms of controlling ownership are in place...

he's gotten an extension on that massive bailout loan 'till 2012 right?

Regardless of who's names' on the door, he's a Brunswick puppet now, I think that's apparent.

I posed the Brunswick buying and loan questions to an individual I feel is in a position to know what is right and what is rumor a short while back, if for no other reason but to satisfy my own curiousity. What I was told was that as far as they knew the loan deal was history, and the relationship stood at the supply deal and option as per the SEC docs. Their opinion was that the option would never be exercised.

What has been extended at this point, per the SEC docs again, is the supply agreement and the option, the way I read it is that the option could not even be exercised until 2012. In light of recent events that is not looking like the way things will play out, but you never know, no one ever saw this deal comming either. What may exist in terms of the supplier/customer credit agreement would be anyone's guess. I would fully expect, as this new deal plays out, to see at least a supply agreement, if it is not already a part of this. I am sure that the relationship with Brunswick is close at this point, but I do not believe this man would ever become someone's puppet. It looks to me like Brunswick just made the decision to get out of the perf boat business and concentrate on the family lines where they likely make better money. Fountain was there, and for his own reasons decided this move was right, and that is it in a nut shell. Love him or hate him, you can't deny him what he has accomplished, or the bravado with which he goes at it.

Little lesson for you in basic Fountain design,

1) The Beak, or part of the boat you all poke fun at, is located at the front of the design.
2) The Helm/Dash, or the part you all poke fun at we height challenged about seeing over, is located about mid-ship, while standing at the helm ones foreward view is over the Deck towards the aforementioned Beak, located on the front of the boat.
3) The Sunpad, or the part of the boat I referenced being able to clearly see all of you over, is located at the rear of the Helm in the current Fountain design.

Now, assuming you have been able to absorb the above design data, and now have reasonable understanding of the location of key design elements in a Fountain Powerboat, I would offer the following, you try to follow along here.

Were one located at the aforementioned Fountain Helm looking out over the Sunpad,

1) One would be taking in the view of that which is behind,or to his rear.
2) One would be viewing that which he has already passed, or gone by.
3) One would be viewing that which can not catch up to, run aside of, or pass the one located at the Helm of the Fountain Powerboat in question.

Now if you are still having a problem understanding the relationship here, I will offer the following,

1) Were you and I to change the names of our boats I might choose Lookin' Back or Rag B Gone, whereas you might choose Been Had or Twins Astern, in an effort to properly place, or relate, one to the other.

If you are still failing to grasp this whole deal, I will gladly demonstrate the whole concept to you in person, free of course, if you would care to see how it all works. Just bring that bad boy up here sometime, at your convience of course. :D

The cook is out. When she returns I'll tell her to be ready you're on your way. She should be here by 5:00 PM, don't be late, you'll tie her up when she's supposed to be getting my dinner ready.

Well see ya, it's off to the heated pleasure boat shop for my weekly bonding session with my other girl. Maybe I'll crank the heat up to 90 and pretend it's summer. :cool-smiley-011:
