We certainly found some interesting stuff, especially in the attic of the well (big white building with a single indoor slip). Hoods and random outboard stuff that was unidentifiable. Last I know it all got scrapped by the new owner. I'll go by there later and see what I can find.

Also, whats your thoughts on posting the blueprints? It would take me a few days either way because they are nearly 3 ft wide and scanning them would be a b*tch

Were they decent boats? Are the ones that are around generally used up?

The were good in the rough but not as fast as a 24 -28 skater, or motion.....much bigger boat. There are a few projects and a couple or restored ones out there.

There was one at Pro Roc in Brick, NJ awhile back. Not sure if it is still there or not.

T2x; now that`s what I am talking about, those power cats were the boats I dreamed of, I was not fortunate enough to race them but drove plenty of them as ex-race boats turned endurance test boats.I was fortunate enough at the time to know most of the drivers who worked for Merc. I started with Mercury as a test driver in Sarasota in 1967 @ 19 yrs old. I thought WOW I finally made it as a test driver, I`m going to jump into one of these cats, with my helmet and jacket and rip up the bays, and definitly impress the girls that used to be our groupies. NOT!!!!
My first test boat was a 14` Lyman canoe type skiff with a 3.9 hp outboard, the boat was green and nicknamed the green weenie, very humbling experience, but eventually I became the lead driver responsible for six other drivers, and yes drove the baddest boats available at the time, then I started working on my bosses offshore boat out of lake X, I was the kid that put the motors on did the test work cleaned it and took it to the race for Gene Wagner to race, and I went along as riding mechanic. The rest is history, when he hurt his back I was assigned the boat and a riding mechanic, all at 19 yrs old. the boat was a 21` Seacraft with a pair of 1100 `s and for those reading this they were 110 hp each, scary fast boat at 48 mph full of fuel ready to go into the Bahamas 500, 542 miles with one stop for fuel 120 boats started, Odell Lewis wins in the dark we finish 8th overall first outboard around 1:00 in the morning, I can write a complete book on that race alone, drama, near death. fatigue, no food no water etc. I still wake up sometimes in cold sweat recalling the events that took place. Anyway, I would love to find an old Power cat, and a pair of 1100 `s it would be a great project for me, and fun to drive, remember when they went by at full song, there was almost no wake. Thanks for the memories as always.

Richie I was lucky enough to race a Powercat with twin 1000's back in the day........ George and I were remarking the other day that in 1964 that boat was the fastest boat on Long Island with the exception of some hydros and a Flatbottom called "Das Fireschpittenloudenboomer... again"...which was an SK driven by Joe Maybrown... National Champ in that class at the time....

When I see you next month I want to chat with you about the offer I received to work at Lake X in 1966........

It is a small world after all...

Don't really care about the blueprints since every leach in America has already "popped" the hull.....But I would be interested if you find any of my old Tunnel racing hardware....

Thanks,
