Spent 5 hours screwing metal shutters to the house (and neighbors houses) yesterday. We have 2 neighbors leaving, fuel is an issue for sure. Storm is no joke but I don't expect any Harvey type flooding.

Grocery stores look like looters have already hit them, some local restaurants are closing so their employees can leave/prepare. Local marinas are double parking boats inside the buildings. Worst part is the waiting.....storm is still 800+ miles from Florida, moving at 16 mph so they expect the action to start Sunday morning.

I have one neighbor with a 5 day old baby (their 1st) and another neighbor/good friend with brain cancer......both are staying. The cancer patient is too sick to travel, the backup plan there is admitting her to the hospital if things get too bad. In past storms they usually left to go to another home out of state.

Yep flood zone x. Not too worried about flooding, but the new "projection" puts it right over us and that will be a bad bad day for us. Jeep is filled up and so my plan is to bail to Orlando last minute and then 4x4 back to my house Monday.

Getting ready to pull boat, I am amazed at how few are boarded up this year. They just gave the mandatory evacuation order for Friday. Also said only to go tens of miles not hundreds as the roads are a mess.

I might have a house available in Cape Coral if anybody in the Miami area needs a place to flee. It may not be totally out of the ****, but at this point, it appears to be a better place than Miami and heading north sounds to be pretty clogged.

I just talked to my property manager in Cape Coral and she said that the phone is really beginning to ring with folks looking to get out of the south east coast. It also sounds like many boats/yachts are on the way over through the Caloosahatchee to get out of harms way.

They just increased the warning to include Palm Beach County.... The path has consistently stayed at or near us anyway so we are getting hit, the big question is how hard, obviously. There isnt anymore panic around my neighborhood. Everything is boarded up and its beautiful outside. Surprisingly a lot of people who said they were staying are now leaving too. We have friends scattered all over Florida right now. The turnpike is moving about 10 MPH north of Palm Beach headed toward Orlando. I95 is almost at a standstill up near Jupiter. ALL FLIGHTS out of Florida are full. I called Delta and they say "all available seats on all flights are taken in Florida" So I said how about PBI, all seats sir, how about Orlando.... Sir every seat on every flight in the STATE is full. Pretty crazy.

So, I did some research and Jet Blue and American are opening up a few more flights. Jet Blue opened a flight while I was on the phone and the flight was filled before I gave her my credit card info! Crazy! Going to go see my buddy in Pennsylvania. Far far away from this chit show...

she is correct that the storm dissipates by the time it gets to middle area FL if it rolls up from the south as the models show. However it's a big storm and should still be a Cat 4 by then, so middle FL could expect Cat 2 like effects for sure if that becomes the case, there is a lot of land that weakens it but it should still be taken seriously.

while we are staying, we are preparing a lot just to be safe.

nate did you move? I thought last time you were living in oldsmar? I boarded up my house here on the water I got my boat off the lift and secured everything.

I've been considering buying a boat that's sitting on a trailer near St Cloud, FL. Any thoughts on how hard they'll get hammered?

I just looked at the webcam at the Galleon in KW, looks like a few boats still docked in the area.
