while it has lost some force it does stand the chance to strengthen but that is only a small part of it. this storm is as strong as Andrew but it is 5 times the size. that means that all the people who say they have stayed when other storms came close and it was ok. they are now in the middle of it no matter where in florida you are. this is the difference of having a smart car run into your truck and a freight train hit you.

"Good luck." I hate that thought. Who's luck? If Irma goes one way and wrecks this bunch of people's lives, this other bunch get good luck. Watching it just miss Haiti and Cuba and thinking now it's gonna be worse for us. Looks like it won't turn right and just leave. If it makes landfall on miami beach and tracks straight up A1A to Cape Caneveral, it could flatten every high rise for a 100 mile stretch. If it hits the peninsula dead center and runs right up the glades to orlando, the coasts should fare much better. That is wishing bad luck on a smaller group of people. I think. I hope.

Following the news from the comfort of my lounge, I feel a bit like those that followed Apollo 13. You're thousands of miles from here and out of sight, I hope you all emerge unscathed on the other side of Irma.

Look after yourselves and your families.

Jon.

My mother lives in Bradenton on the river. She came up Wednesday morning for a class reunion yesterday. She was going back on Sunday & a couple weeks ago had us change her return flight to the following Wednesday so see could spend a little more time with the grand kids & some old friends. Wow is that crazy timing. Spent the night watching cnn, fox & the weather channel. We have lots of friends & family down there. Our thoughts go out to all.

We headed out last night and got to my brothers house in Orlando... Our house is about 2' above high tide level on a normal basis....and has 80' palm trees all around it... Its far from a safe spot, and likely that it'll be gone if the hurricane does what is predicted... I am surprised how many of our neighbors said they were going to stay... I waited until 10:30pm so we didn't sit in traffic...
We're trying to figure out what our next move is as Orlando is still right in the path of this...just farther north...
I'll get it figured out today and likely roll tonight... Atlanta even looks marginal at this point... so I'll probably go east up the coast a bit.... SC maybe...
My parents left their Ft.Myers home and are with us in orlando...
I'm trying to convince one of our Miami employees to leave and catch up with us in orlando today.... Hopefully he does....

I was at Haulover Marina on Wednesday and they had everything all tidy inside... No boat son stands in the middle... Just their customer boats in the racks. The place was clean...
I was by TNT testerday and they were filling the floor space in the building with trailer boats and some on stands.. The boats on the outside racks were being brought down low... They were all hustling..
Our Miami shop is three or so blocks inland from TNT... We have it stuffed with a few customer boats, our show trailer, F350, my little fishing boat and my wife car.... Hopefully our shop survives....

tim, you seem so calm. Might lose your house? I'd be a little stressed out. I think haulover is hurricane rated pretty high right? How's the MTI satalite building there rated? I don't think TNT is rated too high. Older building, though it weathered Katrina really well.

Good luck bro. Hope to see you in key west (if it's still there in November.)

Davie is not showing any storm surge and Ft. Lauderdale is showing less than 3'
HURRICANE IRMA

Homestead and SW FL will be hit the hardest with storm surge.
