Not as concerned about the clearance as I am running used lifters in a new engine. In the big picture they are pretty cheap. Like I said, I have seen them fail for multiple reasons. Sure would hate to pull apart an engine for a $300 part. I know, it all adds up, but unlike the hydraulic steering, it's not an easy thing to fix/add later.

Show me a $300 set of lifters I’d be willing to put in my engine. If I remember correctly, all options Summit has to offer are in the four digit range. And, from what I’m gathering, the OEMs, used, are a safer bet than most of the aftermarket lifters out there

I don't know exactly what lifters you need. From a quick search they do seem to be closer to the $600-$1000 range but I did find these for a BBC that may work. Pretty sure you could shop around and find some. I do know what you mean though about the newer aftermarket stuff not being all that great.

Not sure about compatibility, but options for Gen7 lifters are quite limited, as are those for about every other component. The aftermarket for the 8.1/496 just sucks. Great engine. Short market lifespan. Thanks Uncle Sam.
Builder has more faith in my OEM lifters, as-is, than anything aftermarket, and he’s seeing no reason to replace like with like. No signs of wear, no debris and the wheels are perfect.

None that we can tell. There was none in the drained oil or in the filter.
Builder has a vested interest in not having to dig back into the engine himself, on his time.

The springs are ancient history. You should see those OEMs. good GOD, are the flimsy. HE checked them before beginning disassembly. Right at 90lbs on seat, give or take.
To be honest, our discussions have been all over the place on the cam. The last cam we discussed has me a bit concerned. Not about the valve train, but about the outdrive. As I said, he keeps making suggestions that require me to remind him of our stock BravoOne. He's just not used to his customers pulling back on the reigns. I want SOMETING out of the rebuild, but we don't need to chase very last HP we can find. We are currently discussing the cam, albeit it's over text, and he's a busy dude, being a service manager for a good-sized dealership, it's going kind of slow at the moment. Not to mention, ironically, he just had a lifter take a sh!t in the 6.2L in his truck, and he's trying to get it put back together (variable displacement is just a bad idea; change my mind). I had to go pick up the block because his truck was up on the lift and the engine is just about just about down to the shortblock. I've told him to concentrate on that first with any available time he's got.
As far as I've gathered and been told, there really isn't an issue with swapping cams without swapping lifters in a roller lifter build, unlike with flat lifters, so long as there are no wear issues with either the cam or the lifter wheels. While I haven't looked at the lifter wheels myself, I HAVE looked at the cam, and it looks virtually brand new. You can see where the wheels have been rolling (a process called burnishing, which actually makes the surface harder), but that's it. There is no discernable dimensional change to it at all, and no grooves or scuffs of any kind. I also understand that guys like Mosetti and Raylar sell pull-out cams all the time. I suppose they might sell the lifters with them, I really don't know. It is my plan to attempt to sell the cam and ECM as a Whipple-tuned ECM/cam upgrade package for someone looking to go HO with their base 496MAG. All in due time.

It feels like the 232 Int 0.627 ish lift cam + supercharger is going to put your HP peak higher than what you want to run WOT.
You run 5200 WOT old setup. You wanted a bit more RPM. 5400-5500, maybe you could get away with the same prop with the new power.
What I was expecting for your cam numbers was more lift, a bit more duration, and Int/Exh valve open/close timing more optimal for a Supercharger.
Your recent quoted cam isn't likely going to play well for your cruise either.
ZZ572 GM lifters are pretty good. $38 ea set cost likely better.

This thread speaks to the potential max lifter lift for the 496HO. I've seen many different takes on it.
My $0.02 is to run what you have cam wise. Turning up the Supercharge is going to help from what you has before. Or you'll be posting a how to rebuild the Bravo 1 in the Spring. You can always add a new cam/lifters in a few years.
Keep the CFO happy...lol.
