K&N Flame Arrestor Q
#11
The best site I've seen for K&N is www.4filters.com
I ordered mine there, great service.

Thanks for the information. Jpclear I do not have the dominator carb it is a Q-jet. My biggest issue is height I want to use the stub stack but can not clear the hatch. I see K&N makes a filer set-up that has a radiused bottom plate that acts like the stub stack but it is not USCG approved. I run on inland lakes so that really would be a non issue but if anything ever happened like a fire I am not sure about the insurance company.

Automotive air filters are just (and ONLY) that; an air filter. A USCG approved flame arrestor does some filtering but it is primarily an "anti-BOOM" device. Since you have already said that your engine is enclosed under a hatch, I wouldn't even THINK of NOT using a USCG approved piece. Having run a marina for 30 yrs. in a former life, I have seen more "BOOMS" and burns than I care to remember. Aside from the physical pain and possible death, it is my understanding that if an insurance co. has any indication that you were running an unapproved device that they WILL NOT pay; and you can be held personally liable for any injuries or damage resulting from the use of such equipment. I just can't stress the importance of what I say here enough. I still have an occasional nightmare. --- Jer
