Transom looks sweet, there's light at the end of the tunnel!
I love what you and Heath are doing to these babies, thanks for posting.

Looking sweet. I too enjoy the VE work time. It’s only kicked early on me one time and that’s because I mixed it way too hot. When I was building the 30 scarab with polyester it kicked early on me on a regular basis lol. Keep up the good work brother.

So lots of progress being made over the past few weekends. First, I was able to remove the cockpit floor, and yes it's still usable. Then today, I removed the fuel tank and tabbed in the front engine room bulkhead with Kevlar.

Pulling the tank was not fun at all. I had to take a 12" sawzall blade, and cut out as much foam as I could. Then I dug out the rest with a 48" pry bar. Once I had a lot of the foam out, I started prying the tank up. It took about an hour of prying but it finally popped out. The new bulkhead is 2" shorter than the original one. I've gone round and round about whether or not to do this, and I finally decided to do it. I'll need to push the tank forward a foot, and then I'll build a foot rest over the tank fill. This will solve the issue of the the fill being taller than the stringers. It will also give me a nice storage area for the bumpers under the seat.

Making some headway. Looking nice, are you gonna have another tank built or modify this one?

I’m going to move the tank a foot forward. With all the weight I’m adding to the transom, the boat should retain is original balance. Then I’m going to add an angled foot rest which will give me the clearance needed for the fuel fill.

The short arch is an inch too short, and this will solve that issue and add a little freeboard inside the boat.

solid plan, the tank and all associated work with it, luckily you have the room.
wondering why the winglet bulkheads outside of the gas tank are stepped like that and if they have to
go back in the same way or not.

coming along nice, try a flat / straight shovel on that foam if it's not all out already.

Dan- thanks for the shovel tip, I'll give that a try. I'm not sure why those partial bulkheads are notched. Personally I don't see the point in it, When I replace them, I think I just make them straight.

Today I did notice my first mistake I need to redo. The last bulkhead I tabbed in isn't straight. I was mocking up the new outside stringers and noticed that the starboard side was not lining up like the other side did. After a quick measurement, sure enough, it was off an inch, as in an inch to short. Oh well, I'm glad I caught it prior to glassing it in.

Funny how you notice things that are a little off from factory, then you try to improve on them, only later to discover they did that to compensate for something that was WAY off.

One thing I think I may regret doing, I shouldn't have tabbed in my bulkheads to the hull until the deck was on. I understand that's how they did it from the factory to ensure fit(and prolly why they all popped loose, guess they did it weeks or more later?). I put mine exactly where they had them. We'll see how that works.

I can't believe it's been a month sense my last post! April was a busy month, just not for the boat. So since the last post, I ripped out the forward engine bulkhead. 1. I didn't like how if mated to the hull. 2. I cut it crooked, which of course I realized after I tabbed it in. So with that said, I completely changed the direction of this. Instead of a partial bulkhead like Wellcraft installed, I decided to go with a full bulkhead. I want this boat to be rock solid, and I feel this is a much better design than was was originally installed. While it was no picnic, to get it in, and to fit properly, it's now ready to be tabbed in place. I'm really happy I went this route, and how well it fit.

Once the core-bond drys, I can sand it and get the glass laid down.

The side stringers are also cut, and set in place. I'll glass them in once I get the bulkhead glassed in. I think the hardest projects are finally behind me, but I still have plenty to do.
