Re: removing silent thunder boxes

Don't sawzall it. As I recall mine had a bead of caulk at the back edge that I cut thru with a utility knife. Then there's adhesive around the exhaust openings and as was said, the exhaust tips are...

Re: 2005 Chevy Avalanche 2500 w/ 16" Wheels

I know Sydways and I both have the XDR hitch on our 2500's, as do many on the Chevyavalanchefan.com site. I got mine from this site -

Re: OT - Cadillac CTS-V

I was going to mention the same thing. If you like it, but it has crappy resale, use it to your advantage and buy a low mileage used one that still has a warranty. Several on Ebay can be had in the...

Re: No fair pulling the Leviathan thread...

Thanks, but I'll pass. I just hope the choice to live on a non-speed limit lake with a performance boat is still there with all of the irresponsible idiots out hell bent on f*cking it up for...

Re: No fair pulling the Leviathan thread...

Who knows, it may affect rates everywhere...

It adds to the perception by non-performance boaters that go-fasts are owned and driven by irresponsible idiots. Hell, most of the posting I've seen...

Re: No fair pulling the Leviathan thread...

That sounds like the conditions that ended up with pics of a new 42' Fountain in some trees. Didn't hurt anyone, so who cares?

Let's see...Insurance companies, sailboaters (how close was...

Re: 311 Versus 336 ?

I don't know what the engine room is like in the 311, but there's plenty of room in the 336. The 336 would also give you electric bolsters and probably footrests, the ability to remove the silent...

Re: If I'm on the boat hitting the throttles and have friends onboard.......

You need to run the power footrest up higher so your head is above the windshield.

Re: 382 non step wanted

They'll make the boat go 20 mph faster, but barrell roll every time you turn, even at idle.

Re: Towing a 40ft boat

Mike,

I ordered mine from here, shipping was around $25 including a second package for a HD ball and ball mount. Installation was removing 8 bolts, throwing the factory hitch in the trash, and...

Re: need advice on removing starter

My problem was that there wasn't enough clearance around the one stuck bolt to be able to slip a socket over it and it is so deep in the engine room that it's hard to get leverage. The other one...

Re: need advice on removing starter

Mine happened just before the 4th of July, so my wife was all over me to get it replaced. The shop said they could do it in 2 weeks, so I'd come in and say "That one bolt won't move" and she'd say...

Re: need advice on removing starter

I don't recall where the bolts were, but I spent a couple of days trying to get the port starter out of my 272. I removed the manifold to be able to reach it and had one bolt that just wouldn't...

Electric Footrest Actuator repair

I posted this in General Q&A, but thought I'd put it here too. I also have a call in to Formula tag.

I've got a McLeod electric footrest with a bad actuator. The motor seems fine, but the part...

I've got a McLeod electric footrest with a bad actuator. The motor seems fine, but the part that it spins turns freely and doesn't raise or lower the actuator (I had to cut holes in the bottom of it...

Re: Question regarding offshore boats

With my previous Formula 272 and current 336, if I was doing 40, my 5 year old (now 9) daughter would say "Punch it, Dad!" :D

My vote here would be to go back to the Formula 242. For the best...

Re: whats the most ridiculous trailering situation you have ever seen ???

I bought a 201 Liberator from a guy who towed it with a Mustang GT with a stick. There was a big cloud of smoke from the clutch burning when he retrieved it and he said he went through 2 clutches...

Re: legal advise needed (boating related)

In MI, there's an option on the back of traffic tickets to admit guilt with an explanation. I've done this successfully several times to get tickets, fines, and or points reduced or dropped.

Re: Any former 312 owners??

I also have a 336 and was dissapointed in a new 353 I saw at the boat show last year. Yeah, it will be faster, but we overnight quite a bit and the 353's cabin feels so much smaller. My 11 year old...
