The bottom of my drive sockets are about 100mm from the bottom of the running surface but I am running a 250mm extension box and BPM extended stern tubes no problem with getting on plane with 17"...

From what I remember Nick there a wet-sump version of the #6 with less reduction and bigger gears and I am sure a lot of the internals are obsolete now, I would baby them with the low input speeds...

I suppose that could happen to any boat and just shows the fire was nothing to do with the boat being turbine powered.

Rumour was a UJ let go and took out an oil line out that caused the fire, but realistically there's nothing on the turbine gets hot enough to ignite any oil that might have been present in this event.

SCS coupled to BPM stern tube would be my choice at least it would give the option to do ratio changes by just pulling the top cover not to mention no more drive worries.
