Good thing there was a little ripple on the water or he would'a got Buck Nasty! On flat water you will get in a cork screw porpoise that's so bad you would have to be Cole Trickle to drive through it. Luckily there is one small trick to completely eliminate it.

Is it the weight of the 3.0s? The one I have the most experience with is a 24 raceboat (heavy) with 2.5 260s bolted right on the transom...runs 100 and only has a very slight hop around 85 then flattens right out. All the others I ran had 2.5s as well, but werent raceboats

Accelerate in a smooth arc. Works very well when the water is sticky and the tanks are full. I dont think the weight makes the difference, I have run both 2.5's and 3.0's.

Install a K plane in the tunnel to tame your porpoise in your midrange.

I meant from the poker run, it seemed like every stop we made I got a thousand questions.. Had one guy tell me he used to own one, but finally mentioned it was an Allison (which is like almost the same thing, right?! lol):grinser010:

Gotta come up and go for a ride sometime soon! Ive got a whole box full of parts I need to put on. It really bugs me that it doesnt have trim indicators.

And I gotta research what to do about the water pressure alarm. At about 90, with a ripple, anytime the boat comes out of the water, the low water pressure siren goes off..

Get the Stainless Marine Pop Up Indicators for it!

Thats what Ive got! Im having some new dash panels made to cover up a few cracks in the dash and to rearrange the gauges (with new bezels) a little more to my liking.. once those come in, I'll put the indicators in also..

Im having absurd amounts of fun with this boat!

Just found this thread. Great stuff (no pun intended for those who really know the 24). Here are vids of my 24 from 86 with 2 different setups. First setup is 2.4's and the second is 200's. Boat was really light and fast.

One of the most fun classes I ever raced in was the APBA S class. For the most part we all had 24 Skaters with the same power, Merc 200's. Setups might have been a little different but it really came down to ability. And that ability was taking a light 24' boat and going into some big water on long courses. Top end speed did not mean a thing if you couldn't get through the big stuff. I consider myself very lucky that I got to race a Skater at the very beginning.

The boat was named Renegade. Obviously it's the boat in both videos. Believe it or not I only have one pic of the boat. I do have 4 or 5 videos. That's me waving at the helicopter.

We had a flood in our basement about 10 years ago and I lost a lot of my old race stuff.

Still love the 24's. They will always hold a special place for me.

When you were racing, did you ever race against another 24 named "Im Bad"?

I don't remember "I'm Bad". Where did they race out of? What class? I raced APBA and NPBA.

I actually raced one APBA race New Orleans in Modified (M) class. Probably not my best idea ever, but we were running against the big boys in a tiny boat. I believe we were the only 24' to ever run M class. We finished 5th, which back then wasn't too bad. Just couldn't keep up with guys like Special Edition, Luv It Again and some of the others.

If I was going to buy one, it'd be this one.. And at $29k, he's not out to hurt anyones feelings.. Its a reliable setup, clean boat, looks good, performs good and INSURANCE would be easier to get!

Very pretty boat! Very CLEAN! Im not a fan of the ones that have the backseat against the transom. I have a hatch and a backseat and it still feels heavy in the rear when flyin it. I cant imagine throwin another 400lbs on the rear.

Thats a new one to me.. Was it a raceboat? Wheres it from?

Does ANYONE know what the record is for top speed on a 24? I heard somewhere that a "red 24" ran into the teens.. I'd *REALLY* like to know more about it!

Do a search on scream and fly for Shaun Torrente's 24 Skater. It was red and black. Ran 120mph.

We did this interior in less than two weeks time to meet a Skaterfest deadline. Not that we want to do all of them that fast, but we don't mess around.
