Awesome job on the truck and boat! I don't know how you guys have the time to do all of this work!

division1 07-12-2019 06:42 PM

Well I work a lot in the evenings. My work schedule allows me to work 48 straight hours then I’m off for 4 days so it gives me time to play around lol . I enjoy working on things and making them different !!!!

After we ground it all down to the glass got all the old gel off we sanded it with 36 until all the small stress was gone. Them put a new layer of mat on the area with some peal ply to make it smooth (thanks glass Dave) going to spray new gel coat this week and then on to sanding!!! Luckily the small stress was only in the outer glass!!!

If you look close you can the cracks before we started 90 percent were just in the gel

division1 07-15-2019 08:43 PM

Ok poll time I’m thing of doing the bilge in a dark charcoal. Then blacking our the headers and all other hardware what do you guys think or should I leave everything polished? We are sticking with the same paint idiea just going to modernize the 90 mph paint job. Going to use a dark charcoal we’re the dark blue is them go with all dark blue and white logos. Was thinking of a blacked out bilge and black out pop up cleats thoughts ?????

And the truck is running a s463 turbo and trans has some upgrades from Blake’s diesel. I really like the 3rd gen due to the fact is super simple truck that has some modern day comfort to it. I put 70 pounds in the bags And it tows very nice

Tiki Joe 07-16-2019 09:58 AM

Personally....I don't like the blacked out look but it's your boat.

Do you have a pic of a reference of what you're thinking for the bildge. I think I can picture it and I think it'd be cool and different all "murdered out". Mostly all dark with a bit of shiny parts here and there ;) :D

division1 07-16-2019 11:44 AM

To be honest I can’t find any. I have seen black headers and I have seen different color bilges just not all together. I really do like the black and silver look. Just have to get the right combo. I have all the black rings on the New gauges and such. Tryin to find a place that will black chrome the pop up cleats and hardware.

Thinking a bilge color like this then black out all the polish

thisistank 07-16-2019 05:01 PM

I dig it!

I have a very nice set of 575 blowers and lower Intakes for sale very clean no salt. 1700 per side blowers have been gone threw and are ready to run.

Obviously way different than yours but...this is how I did mine since you were talking about blacked out motors...I have carpet on the sides of my engine compartment which is dark charcoal gray and I painted it white under the engine...the side panels covering the tanks are white for now but looking at changing those in the future...I did paint the blue pullies black and I have a black carb scoop with a red mesh on the front of it and when I'm done jetting the carbs will be black as well...I'm not big on chrome anyway but I did it mainly so when I open the hatch it looks mean and mysterious...at least in my eyes lol

Your boat is incredible by the way...very beautiful!! Can't wait to see the finished product!!

Was hoping someone asked! Lol! I was like, WTF is that for in this restoration?!

division1 07-18-2019 07:52 AM

I was thinking of flying springs on the bottom to make it go faster !!!

Quinlan 07-19-2019 07:09 AM

I have real nice lowers to go as well

frickstyle 07-19-2019 04:05 PM

what blowers are you putting on (maybe I missed that). That boat runs pretty well, I probably wouldn't touch anything.... The setup seems right, and you're at a great power level to speed ratio. That's what keep you boating!

division1 07-19-2019 08:10 PM

We went did the top ends this winter just a quick fresh up went all roller inside and just cleaned up heads. Was thinking of going to a 8-71

Full Force 07-20-2019 12:14 PM

Keep power simple and they run.... usually

division1 07-21-2019 07:10 PM

Yep. While they were out we just wanted to freshen up heads. And go to a roller cam. Should be reliable still. It was great before. Never had any engine problems with it.

Rick G 07-25-2019 05:22 AM

My comment on the dark coloured bilge is that I have always liked a light coloured bilge for 2 reasons , looks cleaner ( personal taste ) and second much easier to spot any type of oil or water leak . Downside harder to keep clean . RG .

division1 07-25-2019 08:24 PM

Total agree. I am leaning towards a lighter silver. Trying to picture this black and silver combo with black hardware in my head. I have had plenty of time to think as I have about 45 hours of block sanding done already lol

division1 08-02-2019 09:26 PM

Well after a solid week of block sanding the transom filling spots and re block sanding until it’s perfectly flat I finally drilled exhaust holes.... my poor wrist hurts lol sanded the inside of the holes and put a piece of 1.5 ounce mat on them. I left it stick out then after it cured I sanded till it was flush and know have a perfect seal. No more water and rott if water does get past the seal. Transom is al ready for gel coat. Hoping to get that Done next week. .
