Ton of block sanding on the new glass work

Ok guys I’m thinking real hard of cutting the backs off the liner for the seats and doing this modification. Very similar to the new style boats. Adding that front bulk head befor the bed would really help tie it together. My boat spent have that

Took my inside transom plates in to get blasted and coated. Turns out after talking with my machine shop guy we decided since we don’t use the oil fill or anything he just making new billet ones. And the new billet swim platform is all done and turned out incredible can’t wait to start Fitting parts

Did a local shop do this, I picked up a couple on my way through Cleveland headed to Buffalo a few yrs back delivered to Tim while picking up a TG, the shop did an outstanding job on them.

Eric, I lost my lift arm files in a bitcoin computer virus scam years ago. I have a few models, but would have to start over from scratch.

Pic of lift arm - the guys in NY did this, I think they got out of this work years ago. I do not have the file for this one. Used pics of Cigs for visual reference and then just designed to scale best I could. (I did not do the arm, or design it, just the slide assembly, which had ALOT of hours in it!)

XT put a nice black rubber spacer in between the slide assy and the fiberglass underside of the hatch, looks professional. That flat alum plate is hidden under the hatch pad, with notches cut into it so it locks the head of the bolts in place. May be better to make it in stainless and tack weld the bolts to it so if you needed to remove it. Ah, just little stuff like that, hindsight.

There's a Cig script machined into the rear portion of the arm. This bolted into the factory mounts that tie down into the stringer. Pretty simple. No one realizes how long all this stuff takes, certainly a hobby for the patient....

After a ton of sanding and grinding on the walls and transom started the filler process of smoothing out the bilge not worried about the floors I have the laser cut plates that will get glued on and I don’t want filler on the floor we’re water sits. It’s going to be a super thin coat after sanding just enough to smooth it out a bit

Well I’ve decided to go a little deeper in the build ........

Full Force 11-10-2019 07:00 AM

Oh man......

division1 11-10-2019 01:54 PM

Yep o man is right lol

frickstyle 11-11-2019 07:16 AM

That's one way to put it.....

Tiki Joe 11-11-2019 09:17 AM

How much deeper??

frickstyle 11-11-2019 09:28 AM

Any deeper would probably be on the bottom of the lake.....

VortechSS 11-11-2019 05:24 PM

"Stay tuned for the first straight bottom to T/S conversion!"

Too deep??:p:p

Really looking forward to seeing the finished product!! The bar continues to get higher on straight bottom refits!

division1 11-14-2019 06:21 PM

Well here’s the thing....... most of us boat on a budget and always want bigger faster boats we usually end up buying older boats and slowly make them what we want. We all know that somewhere on that old pile of wood and glass and shinny engines That we have all probably put in way too much money into that somewhere on that boat there is some rat somewhere but we never really want to face it after putting a new Trans Am in this boat and really gone the extra mile making a one of a kind bill at swim platform and billet motor mounts and having the boat this far apart at this time I have decided I was going to pull the floor check the tanks and everything else I pulled the floor and found the stringers have some soft spots they are not totally shot by any means but so have some week points. When you have a 90s boat this is to be expected. I have decided I’m far enough in what’s a few extra weeks to cut up old tanks replace all the fuel tank stringers and coward bulk head and mount some new tanks in there and never worry about it again. At this point it’s not that much more work. I want the boat to be super reliable for years to come. I am also doing some heavy liner modifications and getting ride of a lot of it and going to a cover girl style cabin. Hoping for a fresh no rot straight bottom that will last me years to come.

Full Force 11-14-2019 09:29 PM

Fun times!!!!

frickstyle 11-15-2019 08:51 AM

Keep up the good work Eric, your Ciggy support group is in town!

division1 11-15-2019 04:46 PM

Great cause I’ll need a lot of it lol

division1 11-17-2019 07:52 AM

So let’s talk about how to cut up tanks........ I don’t want to cut up rear bulk head to get them out considering I just got done with all the body work. So let’s hear the goodIdeas how to get the things cut up and out of there without blowing myself in the boat in the shop up all the same time

division1 11-20-2019 03:34 PM

Let’s also talk about this cabin this is going to be the boat I keep for a while and while we do not usually ever overnight in this boat as we have a place to sleep on the island this boat is usually used to go from point a to point B sometimes the lake a snotty sometimes it is nice these 1990 style top guns with this liner in them no matter what you do they seem to crack and want to move I am really leaning towards cutting this entire liner out putting three forward for bulkheads that run from the deck down to the stringers to support this thing at a few more cross braces with the help of Glass Dave‘s expertise and make this boat Like the race boats I can always put a small cover girl style set of couches or beds in towards the cabin door for the future but I think it would be nice to have this thing Stephen up a little bit some extra bulkheads added down there lose some more weight and this boat should really fly inputs please.

phragle 11-20-2019 04:45 PM

I helped cut a tank out of an apache ...We just filled the tank with water so no vapors would go boom, then attacked it with cutting wheels....fyi the harbor frieght cut off wheels suck....they just made a mess. used some good wheels and it went right thru it.

once the floor of my tiger was up, my tanks lifted out whole. you will have to unbolt your helms. but if you are working with Dave, you can put the upgraded ones that he made helm molds for like on justins and the yellow gun.

division1 11-20-2019 08:21 PM

Unfortunately the top gun tanks go under the floor in the rear and also under a lip in the front. All my dash caps are out. We’re going to cut tanks and put new ones in that are a bit shorter so they can slip in. Going to replace the three fuel tank stringers and make sure all drains are good and clean. I think I have decided to make a race cabin with a cover girl style bed and do away with the liner. We don’t over night and all these boats have cracked liners. They shift and beat up the sides. Going to put 3 full bulk heads in that do from the deck down the stringers. I have the new style dash’s from Dave’s already ran them in the boat for a few seasons. Love them .

Thanks so much I’ve been hunting for a thread in this !!! I will reach out thanks again !!!

division1 11-21-2019 03:49 PM

Well the fun has begun. After a lot of thinking I’ve decided we can improve a lot on the strength of the boat without that liner. 3 ceiling to floor bulk heads and some stringer braces it will be a soiled ride. Looks to be fairly basic to build the benches and a small bed back in there. I’ll run it this summer and drop it off at Xt and let them finish off Inside next winter let the fiberglass fly
