Turbines can generate massive torque.
Something else to consider is when you throttle a turbine and pull back on the sticks
it does not close butterfly's and slow down the way a piston engine does it spools down.
This kinetic energy shows up in all kinds of fun things like.
props
drives
drive shafts

What was the original use / or intention, of these engines? I'm assuming aircraft as it has the de icing system but do you know what the bird was? Is this your first foray into hands on this deep into one of the powerplants? They look so simple on paper and to see it all coming apart is an interesting follow. You've inspired me to reset the time on cars clock from daylight savings. Thanks.

Thanks for a very informative thread, love the detailed pictures and descriptions that you've given through out the process... We work around aero-derivative and large frame turbines all the time but not on them. Just providing fire & gas suppression protection packages for them incase something goes wrong... Jim

we install the shaft plug as not to damage the shaft threads
also remove the locking tabs by peeling them back then remove the 6 nuts... i
numbered each one for installation. These are all part of a balanced assembly.
