Looks like they have a small plate and lock wire to prevent tinkering.
if these are set at 100% what happens when the props leave the water and the driveline becomes unloaded the N2 accelerates quickly even chopping the throttles there will be some delay in the N1 decelerating what prevents the N2 from overspeeding in this situation or a gearbox failure.

With the sixes my n2 never really over revved leaving the water.. It still has enough load so that it does not over speed immediately.
About ten years ago I had a drive shaft blow apart. I was using the Aquadrive system its a CV driveshaft and it blew apart letting the
n2 over rev to over 110 percent however no over speed damage occurred. For the record there was some damage to the PT section
Jim and i came to the conclusion that it was the tremendous vibration and percussion associated with the loosing one of the balls in the cv assembly.
(it was like a jackhammer to the output shaft causing a small F.O.D.
I believe the t53 used by the book in its attended application requires a inspection for any over speeds.

999Jay, there is no chopping the throttles with turbines. By then its too late!! You just kind of set the throttles for the water conditions and thats that, unless you see some big waves a couple hundred feet ahead, then ease back on the throttles a little giving the turbines time to spool down and not be pulling alot of torque when it does leave the water.

Thanks 302 I will keep that in mind not looking to be out in any rough stuff mainly warm sunny calm days in the gulf.

302/Knot-Right what about compressor wash procedure and frequency any tips?
Fuel whats the preference I would imagine
1 Jet-A
2 Kerosene
3 Diesel
Does that sound about right?

Jay, KR uses "Kerosene" pretty much exclusively. sure he will comment on wash and wheels

i have accumulated several sets thru the years.
none of the propellers stamped for hp rating.
the ssm six setup loved the 16-35s cast mercurys 1.35 ratio.
that was nice all around and the small diameter gave them longevity.
I have had cast herrings fail twice chucking a blade. They were 17-37s.
the best propellers i have ever ran again this is all with the ssm6 setup were a set of 16.5 x 40 16 cast mercury's.
i ended up selling and wish i never did.
i have a set of 16.5 37,s five axis forged that i just got and a set of 16.8 x 32.8 12 degree forged herrings.
stay away from anything with SCL stamped.

I have burned home heating oil diesel and Kero.
lots of coaked up and clogged start nozzles with smokey starts.
i will only run kerosene!!!!! never had a issue since about 10 years now.
If you can get it Jet A.

Have you run the new shaft drive/rudder set-up? if yes, your observations + mph gains or are you in for a complete new prop dial-in process?
