Is the manufacturer concerned about SCC (stress corrosion cracking) in inlet section dovetails where salt is evident?

Amazing they hold up for 5 years in that environment...

thanks for posting..

Jim is sending me some tig rod that is designed for this
i would think it would be something similar to this.
High-Performance Nickel Alloy X TIG Welding Rod. ERNiCrMo-2
TIG welding rod. AWS: A5.14-89 grade. Class: ERNiCrMo-2 SAE-
AMS 5798D.
Here is another crack. This is a stationary component but if left in its currentstate my assumption would be eventual contact or
rubbing against the rotor which sees 22,000 rpm.

to this side.

This is where the planetary s and gear reduction takes place it takes the 22,000 rpm of the N2 system
down to 6600rpm.
I will attempt to pull this cover off and see whats inside.[IMG][/IMG]

Knot-Right :This is a GREAT thread... just as your install into the Skater was!!! Like the fact that you explain each step with a detailed photo.

Out of curosity, what would a recognized shop charge for a full teardown, inspection, reassembly (obviously not for flight status) for a T53 - any idea roughly before necessary parts added to repair costs?
