Well hope all had a good holiday. The highlight of our travels was on thursday afternoon as we were passing thru Sandy Creek on Rt 81 we placed our traditional call to Bird. And damned if he didn't answer the phone, made our day! This is the first time in I don't know how many years that he actually answered his phone.

New Years is up next, then the HBW Boaters Weekend. So who is going to make it to the Bay for the weekend of the 8th - 10th?

heater63 12-27-2009 09:48 PM

hey ragged I got a little surprise for ya in the spring

All in how you view things I guess. Would be nice to have another on my side of the fence up in the Bay. Odds did improve a bit in the boathouse last season, but I'll take all the support I can get. I do have a very enthusiastic 13 year old, a gagle of his buddies, and an old semi-crippled guy solidly in the Fountain camp. Life's a biotch, I just smile and do the best I can! :D

If Doug bought a new boat it dosen't really matter what is is, would just be good to have another perf boat to run around with this summer.

Might be! But you need to remember that I am a proud member of the "32 Pachanga Owners Club".
I actually still have the factory supplied "Built For" dash plaque thay I got when I bought the boat.

Never owned a boat that I didn't love! At least till I found the next one! :lolhit:

P.S. So hows sleddin'? Put a whoop azz on a Yamihahaha yet?

I don't think that will be an issue right now!! :lolhit:

I think mine is still firing on all three at the moment!

I'm headed up to the "Hill" with my tour guide, host, and Yoda this weekend. We'll post some pictures! Ya ready to teach me Bird?

Dave

heater63 12-29-2009 11:07 PM

Hey dave if your headed up to the hill can you sign your boat over to me first. For gods sake be careful up there.theres alot of idiots from other states that arnt happy unless there drunk and proving it.
Hey Pete,as a matter of fact one of them is a fountain, unfortunately it is the slower of the two and the smaller of the two.

Rippem 12-30-2009 06:35 AM

the Hill on a weekend is not a place for newbs!

especially early in the season when nobody has their riding skills back on (many never had them in the first place) or sled set-up...
they'll be all over the trail unable to hold a line.

NONE of us locals will go up there on a weekend (and haven't in many years) other than to occasionally skirt around on trails not known to the tourists to get to the other side or destination.

Stay WAAAY right brotha' and expect an idiot head on to you around every curve and over every blind rise.
You have to ride VERY defensively on a weekend

If you can manage to get away Monday thru Thursday Dave it's really enjoyable, smooth, without the traffic and the fear factor.
We ride every week.

I used to ride years ago, and I think the almost 400 mile I rode out West was a Real Good refresher course. I'm not going there to set the world on fire. I'm sure Bird will keep me in line!

As far as the during the week, I would be interested in that real soon! I'll let you know.

Dave

PS: Ragged, don't let Heater fool ya....He's up to NO GOOD!

I'm sure you're in good hands. Have heard Bird speak of riding there for years, seems like he's still in one piece, must be he knows something others don't.

Far as Doug, in my mind there's no such thing as NO GOOD. Can't wait to hear what he's up to now. Never did get the ride he promised me in the last race boat, maybe it's a new and faster one! That would be cool!

don't get your innuendo keyboard balls on just yet old sage...

funny coming from somebody who knows NOTHING of the subject at hand (uhh, that would be YOU)
There's little about the Hill I don't know as it is RIGHT HERE in my front yard (OK, I'm 20 mins from Barnes Corners),
I've missed just three of the last 25 years riding it...
and for a couple years now working weekends right here ER-ing it, that is the ones who don't get life-flighted to Upstate...

Just being protective and encouraging Dave to be very wary of the other guy, as on the weekends a solid 30% are diaper-bagging snowcross wannabe idiots riding out of control at warp speed...
ESPECIALLY early in the riding season
rusty skills
new sleds without good setup in them yet (do you even know what that means?)
THEN add in the ones stupid enough to drink and ride...

you, on the other hand, I'd like to park right in the middle of the trail (say Flat Rock road) at 4 pm on Saturday...
you'd be crying like a little girl for the security of your keyboard and bottle...

This weekend may not be the worst of it... as typically Christmas and New Year's weekend are a little down because of peoples other commitments
This ain't the mountains and it ain't Canada. The first time your tooling along on a trail 3-sleds wide bordered by trees and somebody's coming at you at 75-80 on your side of the trail, or you meet someone at high speed coming out on your side in a curve
you'll get the effect!

There IS a reason those who DO KNOW some things, have seen the "action" in person and the results, avoid it on the weekends.

No problem wise one, I enjoyed explaining it to you.

-------------------------------------

and 'Bird, Winona Forest is in good shape take him there and around the Boylston loop. Very scenic and a fraction of the crazies.

I'd say thanks for the diatribe here if I had a sled, if I was perhaps headed to the area to ride, or if I even gave a chit about your self-proclaimed expert opinion. In that none of the above apply, why the chit are you directing this at me? Bad day down on the ranch?

FYI ... I do agree with your take on the bar hoppers, was not my style back when I did ride, never felt the two mixed very well.

heater63 12-31-2009 10:14 PM

yes pete it is newer and definately faster, should be seeing triple digits.dont want to post any pics until I have it in my posession. As far as the fountain I think you'll get a real kick out of that.

So is the Fountain the race boat or the River toy? I saw your Cruisers on Rick's site and figured you were up to something. Plus the "going topless" comments. You going to be around the Bay next weekend for the boaters deal?

heater63 01-03-2010 10:28 PM

they are both gonna be river toys.the fountain is not the race boat and will most likely be sold before I put it in the water but is gonna be at my dock most likely.no offense but the smaller fountains dont make good race boats.they are coming from california and I should have them by the end of the month.believe it or not the fountain is a single engine and was radared at 109mph. Now thats sick! As far as the party up there.is bonnie and hutchinsons the same weekend?

If the Fountain is the slower of the two @ 109 then the fast one should be real interesting!

The HBW deal is this comming weekend with the open house party on saturday afternoon. Not positive on this, but far as I know Bonnie's is the same. Be there for sure on saturday, might go up on friday after work. Have reservations at the RiverEdge for both fri & sat night, might pass on fri, just waiting to see on who else will be there.

heater63 01-05-2010 11:08 AM

Im told that bonnie is the following weekend (that really sucks) so I will probably be going up then instead. The race boat will be set up to run 75-80 top speed,in this type of racing its all about acceleration and handling. Its capable of 114mph when set up for that.

ThirdBird 01-06-2010 11:39 AM

Just a little update on my ride with Axa this past weekend. Haven't been able to post much, my laptop is in the shop.

We put on some pretty good miles, about 350 I think. Dave did very well, he kept himself nicely out of harms way while still booking along at a good clip. We hit some fairly heavy traffic but not as bad as I thought it might be.

Friday was a little tough with the wet snow on the shield all day. But, we had a good ride. Stayed at camp with some other friends, Dave's first exposure to camp life. We're sitting there, it's about 11:00 pm, Redfield groomer goes by. Obviously, we suited up and went back out on glass-smooth trails. Little John to Redfield and back. Nice!!

Saturday we rode all over the Hill. Went to Barnes Corners for fuel then bopped all the way across the Hill to Florance for lunch. Trails were kind of crappy but Dave dug it anyway. We rode the Wetstone Reservoir near Tabolt's Corners. Did a little wide open running. I gotta say, that little 700 Viper of Axa's will run. We had no GPS with us but his dream meter read 106. My speedo only goes to 100 and it was bent around to 0. Whatever speed it really was, we were hauling pretty good and Dave's Viper was right on my right-rear corner. Very impressive. However, the Viper is a boat anchor out of the hole.

It was pretty cold out Saturday, my hands were having trouble even with the warmers going full tilt. We hung at camp Saturday night. Did a little riding Sunday, mostly bushwhacking on back trails. Nice though.

All in all, we had fun and Dave did an excellent job on the Big Hill.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. The riding must be good now with this daily snow chit. We're even starting to build some up here, seems like a little everyday. Watching the news now and we're in for some more again. I'm just waiting on spring, green grass, and water you can't walk on myself. :drink:

So, is anyone going to the Bay this weekend for the HBW Boaters Weekend?

heater63 01-06-2010 05:40 PM

good job dave! I knew ya had it in ya!

axapowell 01-06-2010 05:53 PM

Thanks for all of the kind words!!

Thanks to Bird and the camp crew for the unreal hospitality. You were all very generous! Had a BLAST! Would do it again on a moments notice too. Bird and Tom (aka Dung Beetle and his son Jake) showed me around Friday. Real neat place that Tug Hill is! As for that 900 Big Bore (Bird's sled), That thing is a ROCKET out of the hole! I have to work on my suspension a little to try to improve my holeshot. Top end...wow, I was surprised that I was able to keep up with the big boys! It was a great time, and thank you. I hope I get asked to join in again!

Dave

axapowell 01-06-2010 05:53 PM

We are going to be at the HBW party both Friday and Saturday night!

Dave and Gail

ThirdBird 01-07-2010 08:35 AM

Axa, talked to Jed last night. He was going to call you either last night or this morning. Get anything arranged?

Get the new trailer-topper home OK? You need to rig the inside up with lights, it's cool and makes loading so much easier.

Now that you're riding sleds, you need to blow off the socials at the Bay. No time for that nonsense, let's ride brotha!!!
