I like to run, I like to run hard. But, I think my days of running that hard are over. Actually, I've been lucky several times. So, it's back to the 600 class where I don't feel like I have to try to race everyone. Of course, I know I can ram a 600 into a tree just like a 900, but it's the psychological part of it. No more chest-thumping for me. But, that hot rod was a rush while it lasted!!!!! Never had a harder pulling, faster excellerating machine than that!!! |

Being just slightly your senior, I can tell you that when you crash, as your years here begin to add up, the recovery time seems to stretch out exponentially. As does the "WTF" factor!!! Some things in life, such as Jackie Chans and trees, are best left to the young bucks. Not good! ;) As for leaving it to the young bucks, I always thought my "experience" was my edge. I can (could) run with the best of them. But, not so much any more. The way I feel right now, I can't even entertain the thought of racing along those trails anymore. I think it's been a life-altering episode!! |

all around happiness for me has been found on 110-120 HP 600 you dont have to be carrying big vehicle speed to have fun with the powerband. Honestly my tricked out 75HP 550 Rev is ALOT of fun it'll run 77-78 on the trail everyday, I've seen 84 repeatedly on the road or ice. It's very consistent until it gets really warm out. Low snow or rock hard conditions? Gotta take the shoulder for 10 miles? NO PROBLEM! No cooling issues. That sled is all about ride and handling. It is so easy to ride hard because you don't get fatiqued hanging on to it and there is no fear of grabbing too much at the wrong time. and it keeps your feet warm! Love floggin' the hair dryer! |

I'm not really a fan of fans, but smaller CC's is definitely in my future. Hey, I'm a grandfather now. I should act like it!!! |

wow
Reading this makes me cringe. Next season is going to suck if they don't do something.

Unreal. You would think that the docks would be looked at annually and repaired as needed. You know, a buget line item for the docks! This is the biggest parts of tourist activity. They are NUTZ if they don't fix it.
Dave |
This has been hit on a couple times lately by the local news up here. In the TV interviews the "locals" claim they have a handle on it and it will be all "fixed" by spring. Personally I find it rather stupid that a community that depends on the river and all of us water rats for a living would let the only dock in town get this far gone. But then one only has to take a stroll down Main Street to see where things are going up there. If I treated all my real estate the same way I would be on welfare.

What act like a grandfather? I've been one for about 8 years and I aint changed just for that. If you feel that way you might want to check into the new Yamahas coming out, word has it they have electric power steering!!!!!! sounds like it's time for you to convert:drink:
As Al stated about the powersteering for Yamahas in 2011 it is true ..... I was in Old Forge this past weekend doing a last minute ride and met up with some factory reps from Yamaha and rode a 128" track with "powersteering" ..... it was awesome !!! They also eluded to the fact there will be a 144" tipped up track available for the Apex with powersteering. The idea behind this is acceleration and handling of a 121", comfort of a 136" and floatation of a 144" all in one track with powersteering ..... Now you can have as much front end ski pressure as you want allowing you to carve like crazy with little to no effort. Whose your daddy now !!!! Aside from that glad to see everyone is well ..... I have been wrapped up with finalizing my divorce buying a new house and dealing with business being slow ..... other then that it has been awesome !!! When the friggin snow comes back let get back to riding .... Rippem , Axa don't forget I have carte blanche of the place in Altmar, NY .... Wednesday nights ... and Thursdays are great for me .... and some Sundays. Talk to you soon !!!! Jeff |

Jeff So the house we were talking about is a done deal? Congrats on that one! Little Bro is having a reasonable winter so far, odd thing is it's still the trucks and SUV's that are carrying it, read that gas guzzlers just like before. Seems like they can't get the Ext-Cab trucks fast enough. |

I think you might find some reasoning for the higher sales of the big vehicles could be related to the new fuel effiencie regulations that are coming down the pipe. If you look at Fords future strategies you'll find that the good old V8 will be replaced with a twin turbo V6. I mentioned earlier I might have a little insight, here's a link to the project I've been working on for about a year and half http://www.epa.gov/otaq/climate/420r09020.pdf On another side note the new Dodge Ram Diesels with the 6.1or6.2 replace the old reliable 5.9, again emission related changes starving the engine. A lot of the guys that haul will be looking at the older ones. |

When Mr. Green in his Prius with the stuck gas pedal is headed straight at you and the dumb azz has no clue what to do, at least you have some bulk around you!!! I'd hate to be a Toyota dealer today, can't sell 'em, can't even rent 'em. |
Ride It Like You Stole It From Somebody Who Stole It
:D so whadidya' think of that Dave?
|
Unreal Wednesday and Thursday....Rip and Twins are some riding mo fo's! Hope I didn't hold either of you up....:evilb:
140 miles or so on Wednesday with Rip and around 180 miles on Thursday, with Twins. Thursday between 9-3:30 with an hour for breakfast and an hour for an afternoon totty we averaged 47.5 mph!! Twins will fill in the blanks! Had a blast! Do it again soon. Going to try to go locally (Cortland) today if there's some snow to be found! Dave |
Well as this thread is about to roll over to page three, a new all time low, I need to resurect it.
Any of you have a current mailing address for Got Twins? Reason I ask is that in clearing out some chit, no offense here, to get ready for yet another remodeling phase on the commercial building I have come across a vintage pair of '88 and '89 Formula sales catalogs in primo condition :drink:. I would like to mail them out to Bird and Twins just for chits and grins, thought they might get a kick out of having them. I have Bird's mailing adress but I need Jeff's. |

Far out Pete, love to have one. I'm '89, Jeff is '88.
The plus side of being a pack rat! Down side, feeling compelled to sort thru one last time before the trip to the dumpster. :lolhit: Now if I can just remember which one I put in your envelope. |

With my case of CRS, I'm surprised I remember what year mine is. |
Ragged,
Thanks for the brochure ..... it is in a lot better shape then one I have. Looks like the snowmobiling season is going to end fairly quickly if this freak'in weather continues .... That's ok I am ready for a change back to boating .... Look out it's Jackie Chan time !!!!! :lolhit: Thanks again !!! Jeff |
Hey Pete,
Thank you for the vintage Formula brochure, it IS in mint shape. It'll go nicely into the factory three-ring binder that came with the boat. Very cool!!! My oldest, Jessica, was quite enamored with your very nice hand writing on the envelope. Jess is into nice hand writing, just one of her idiosyncrasies. Of course, Samantha probably wrote that!!:p |
Jeff,
Having trouble getting free for a weekend. Been working Saturdays for 8 weeks now. No end in sight yet. Now, Julie is back working at the plant and she's doing Saturdays too. Not good!!! Good for the gas-stash though. |
Jeff,
You're welcome, it's up to you to preserve the thing for the next 22 years. :drink: |

I can only assume it must have been a weak moment on my part. ;) You can tell your daughter that it comes from my Mother, and thank her for having more faith in me than you did. |
With the warm weather...looks like it's time to change the Avatar back to something that relates to boating!! Unlike Bird, mine is still in one piece!
Had it going 117 mph (on the dream meter) across Oneida Lake on Saturday with Winedown behind me. That was the fastest I'd seen it yet! Thinking around 105-107 for real. Cooking to say the least! The lake was pretty smooth in the middle, rough around the edges from last weekends thaw and this weeks re-freeze. Let's get this thread back on track...What has anyone done to slow their boat down for the season? Bird, did you do anything to your bullets yet? Need a hand? Let me know! Dave |
slowed mine down alot with no motors, the best you will see out of my boat this summer is behind my truck,

Yeah no point in rushing it if you need any help let me know I'm sure Steve would lend a hand too we've had enough motors out in the last few years we've had alot of practice

Dave All for that, about time. Figure it's slow enough, might have knocked a tenth or two off it with the couple extra coats of wax on the deck, might be a wash with the gell I buffed off though. :lolhit: I am considering some additional gems in the prop collection, a man just can't have too many sets kicking around taking up space. I have a prop guy that seems to be real good at making fast props even slower. For a fee that is! Curiosity here ..... How many seasonal Formula residents in the HBW Boathouse this season? Excluding 5P, I know he's a regular part season visitor. |

. If you need someone to do them for you that is 100% trustworthy let me know. My friend that freshened up the 500's for me would treat you right, he know's his chit and will not do you wrong. He was more than reasonable on my deal, I never asked and actually expected a lot more based on what some people claim. |

Gonna turn the props back to "out" and see if I can still dock it too. That will shave off a couple too!

I won't mention any names, but didn't you have an excessive oil usage problem and VERY low oil pressure after that re-build?
Dave Not really, and they are still running like champs as built some three seasons later, and faster now with the shorties, so I hear. When you polish the crank to clean it up you will normally see a little less on the pressure gauge. Excepting a total lack of it, oil pressure in and of itself does not make an engine live longer. If you feel the need for a big number on the gauge they make high pressure pumps, they also make high volume pumps if you are so inclined, did neither. It's not how hard it is for the oil to move thru the engine but the fact that it does that really counts in the long run. Just my opinion for what it's worth. |

Gonna turn the props back to "out" and see if I can still dock it too. That will shave off a couple too! I don't get it, what do you mean? Dave Bling is good. Out is for amateurs! Not to mention, Slower! Might want to rethink this one, your bud Kelly is thinking you two might have a 600 shootout down in the Pond. Simple question ........... You, 5P as a part seasoner, and other Flormula'ites? / or not? No hiddden adgenda here, just a question. Folks come, folks go, some folks come back, some folks don't. |
