Dave it's not hard to run with the big boys when your already riden on one :drink: Glad to here everyones enjoying the good old white stuff. Cheryl & I made a trip up to the far western side of the UP over New Years for a couple of days riding. We had a great time even though we were out in the nice warm 3 degree temps all day.

Al, 3 degrees is friggin' cold, I don't care who you are!!! I had to get some handlebar gauntlets for my sleigh. Even with the warmers going full tilt, the old hands still get cold. Hope those goofy looking things work!!

I'm will be there for the annual "King of the River" run again this year timing TBD would like to make it for the 4th but if things keep going like they have been I may just do the pirates weekend trip. Work is crazy busy. been working on 3-4 projects with one being 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

Yeah it's a bit nippy coming into work today the temp was a 5 degrees at home 45 miles south it got up to 12. Got 4-6 inches of fluff yesterday. another couple storms and we'll be riding around home instead of heading north

I thought about the gauntlets but haven't seen the need yet. I find that the faster I ride the hotter the grip wamers get and actually get a little to hot once we back down for the twists and turns.

Yeah that day was a little chilly, first leg out the sleds actually over heated about 4-5 miles down the hard pack trail. Packed the running boards with snow the one time and had no more problems. We broke the ride up with 3 stops with the longest run being about 25 miles. Let me no how the Gauntlets work.

You'll have to check with Stepper for the current rule book on the King of the River deal. Seems that the rules change depending on which way the wind is blowing, I've yet to figure it out myself.

At one point all you had to do was to show up with your boat and a Tee Shirt.

The "King of the River" run started a couple of years back when a certain two individuals could never settle a long ongoing dispute over who's boat was faster. So the rest of us proposed a full santcioned TIBBC race from A-Bay to Singers to put a squash to the squabbling. I volunteered to be the pace boat since one of the racers seemed to have a hard time getting out of the hole. the rest of the gang would be waiting at singer and would be the offical judges and declare the winner. So the race was planed and scheduled to begin just before the Kingston poker run came thru (hence everyone hangin out at Singers) On race day I think it was bird and I went out to the starting line (while the others were at singer). The racers had already left the boat house. So when it was time to go the pace boat had to complete the race by itself and rightfully claimed the title "King of the River". Last years event was a little different, I did manage to retain the title and some one had posted the pics at the end as proof

No, but a lot of the boathouse folks and some of the Flockers thought it was rather clever, there is a flip side that's even better. :lolhit: The inagural running of the event never took place. There were reasons for it's cancelation which were beyond the control of one of the participants.

Still have the shirt, but in order to place it on your back I'll need to buy some Whipples for the Biotch. At least based on what Axa slipped out last weekend about the two new items in your toy box!

Adding Whipples was a comment, though it likely would put me past the little one at least. But I have no intention in he!! of going there. I'm happy with the "turn the key deal" I have going right now. Some more wax and maybe a set of different props would be the program for this coming season.

If I were so inclined to run a real big number I would call Shogren and have them put the 700's back in that used 35 they have and buy it! Don't see me doing that any time soon either.

Would be fun to see Hot Stepper and Doug, in the little boat, have at it.

You left out the operative word for absolute clarity. It should read:

"I raced AGAINST the Black Biotch........."

And, as the King of the River title, it rightfully goes to Hot Stepper. He was the only one to show, so he wins. The only way he'll lose that title is if you two other excuse-mongers ever actually get out there and run. So, Al, it's all yours!!:p

Notice the red X in Bird's avatar...hanging his head in shame because the little Yamaha 700 beat him up. So, now he decided to get rid of it and not snowmobile this season. It's a shame, real shame

Not being a Bonnie Boater I doubt they would give me a free glass of ice water. I Don't understand why they changed the deal this year, was a good time the last few years when everyone was up there at the same time. We actually stayed over at Bonnie last year to be closer to party central. :drink:

The "totalling" came from frame/chassis damage not seen in the pictures.

Yeah, it's good that January 11th wasn't my last day. I certainly could have been. The knee itself is OK but the bruising and cuts are pretty annoying. There'll only be a divorce if I buy another one!!:grinser010:

From what I recall I believe her sled end up in the same condition as yours totaled. She came out of it a little worst from the sounds of "how's the knee doing". Hers was more like how long do you need to have that cast on your leg. I was off overseas at the time just heard the stories. So how fast were you going, from the damage I'm guessing around 20 -25ish. Anything faster I would think would have folded it up more like an accordian.

That depends on when during the "event" we measure the speed. Going into the curve, probably 75-80. But, I had time to try to battle it back onto the trail before the tree stopped all forward progress. So, yeah, most likely 25-30 or so. I'll say this though, it all happened in the blink of an eye. One second I'm blasting along, the next I'm on my back going "WTF!!"

Glad to hear you're ok. MAybe you should take up snowboarding. We just got back from Mt Tremblant in Quebec, awesome place!!! So on the way back we're coming through customs and the guy asks what the license plate means. I tell him it's the name of our boat. When I tell him its a 353 and that we spend time in the bay he asks me if I know Randy (Rippem), appears he used to work with him at the hospital. Never asked a question about what we brought back, just waved us through, sweet!!! P.S. I can now say I did the Rideau, by truck.

I know the place. Snowmobiled there several years ago. Very nice. Quebec'rs in general don't really like we Yankees, but they like our money!! We rode all over up there. The Canadians really know how to facilitate snowmobiliers (and all tourists for that matter) and they know how to maintain sled trails. Of course, unlike here, it's all government funded. Yup, nice place.

If I had a sled, I might go back.:mad:

Being just slightly your senior, I can tell you that when you crash, as your years here begin to add up, the recovery time seems to stretch out exponentially. As does the "WTF" factor!!! :eek:
