Nice Lamination with a good core job and mirror finished tooling you get a straight boat.

Misspelled 'Airex'.

When High Modulus tested a sandwich layered core vs the solid foam core that is normally used in fiberglass yachts, they found visible damage on the sandwich core, but none on the solid core. When they cut the cores open, they found catastrophic damage in the solid core but no damage at all in the sandwich layers. This was done with testing at 2.2Gs, a much higher hull impact velocity than Germanischer Lloyd mandates.

This should be an eye-opener for those wanting to build lightweight, fast boats for ocean waters...

LOL no problem Cat the damage migrates in solid and crosslinked cored laminates, while the Linear foams: Airex and Corecell have a Large energy adsorption factor before failure and thank you for the Article, looking at the solid laminate a lot of the filiment has been broken on first impact, so the second loading will take much less and continue the damage.

LMAO well I guess that's one way to do it. How are the loads tested now?

Look at this shot of Ermis. I can just imagine the jaws dropping when this black-hulled beast blasts by all those displacement yachts at 60 knots.

http://www.mcmullenandwing.com/Ermis_awards.html

The black hull and low-profile single level superstructure just say "I'm fast and you're not" lol. The only other boat that big that can run those speeds is John Staluppi's TWINE and it has almost twice the horsepower.
