I don't think there is a "sandwich " on the deck. I believe the headliner material is glued directly to the underside. At least on my 86 242 it appears that way.

I had a Seaworthy battery go bad this past year.(I have 2) I was shocked when I looked at the date. 2002 - pretty good run. I put a Deka marine battery in. Fingers crossed.

Yea, a boat is definitely not like modding a car. It takes lots of HP and $$$$ to go faster. Myself I’d leave it alone. Great motor and drive setup.

I have these CMI’s on my 242. I bought them used and really like them. Even open they sound better than the straight thru hulls. Nice tone. Switch them closed in the harbor. Pneumatic actuated....

I went to a 350 Mag MPI and it was plug and play. ECM is on the engine. Merc has a pretty sweet system.

Would going to a 17 pitch prop and spinning it faster really do anything? Like I said, it gets on plane great and cruises fine. If I get the same results but spin it faster do I really gain anything?

Just put a 350 MagMPI in my 1986 242. Running a alpha one 1.5 gr. I can spin it up to about 4,300 @43mph with a SS 3-blade 19” pitch.
