Merlin supposedly puts severe duty valves on when you buy them assembled.

I guess we will find out when I buy the next head. That one is pretty much junk now.

tomtbone1993 05-11-2007 04:03 PM

the block salvagable?

Yeah, Should be about the same as your last one. Needs 2 pistons and a new head. Possibly a rod.

I guess I can start slamming Merlin heads now. You would think they would laast more than 2 hours before coming apart.

bigandy 05-11-2007 04:07 PM

the weird thing is it is the intake and not the exhaust... oh well it could be worse..........

you could be pulling it back from new orleans with a blown motor.

i wonder if it could be an oiling problem? did you use old rocker arms? if roller rockers have a bad needle bearing the can lock up and break a valve.

They arent going to warranty it? valves should just break maybe machine work was sloppy and valve guides or something was bad?

you would be surprised of what they can do to rebuild heads

No problems with the plugs. It was a simple valve failure.

I am going to get the loose pieces out of the boat and go put it up. I will worry about it next week.

OK After phone consultations with 2 doctors we have figured out that I have severe swimmers ear which is causing pressure on my cranium causing a migrane. I poured poroxide into it and will not be visiting the doctor because I just spent all of my money on a broken boat motor. I will go to the doctor next week after the next pay check comes in. Hopefully my brain doesn't follow the same track as my boat and explode also.

Pistons have been ordered and engine pull hs been scheduled. ETA on sea trial is now scheduled for 3 weeks from today.

I have mixed my first drink of the evening.

Head is missing a chunk behind the seat. I will probably have to order a new casting.

I am going to open them up a little more on this build. Should make a little more power.

Remember, everytime you break one, you should take the oportunity to make a little more power. :evilb:

tomtbone1993 05-11-2007 06:17 PM

How the f^ck do you get swimmers ear fallin in 3 feet of water? You spend more time in the shower touchin yourself in dirty places

joew. 05-11-2007 06:19 PM

cruisers are the way to go.:D When it breaks you just sit at the dock all summer and have a great time while saving money from gas to rebuild whatever broke:D

did you really just throw a underhanded pitch over the plate at the beltline? I know the responses will be comming....let me get a few out of the way

if it breaks:

Call John tell him its broke and the bar is empty

Mikey will fix it, and put everyone else including Trojan-Man on the back burner

Tell Kim you are busy fixin the boat while you are drinkin and Mikey is fixin it

i could go on and on:evilb: :evilb:

BTW if the bar is empty is that the same as broke???
