The final event of the Super Boat International Series was held at Clearwater Beach, Florida which was a huge event that drew record crowds and one of the biggest spectator fleets of the year. An estimated 2000 plus spectator boats lined the course while tens of thousands of spectators watched from the beaches and Pier 60.
Team AMSOIL Offshore participated in the official news conference held on Thursday at the Island Way Grill. Several TV stations and newspaper reporters attended along with the Mayor of Clearwater. The AMSOIL Skater Supercat race boat was on display in front of the event.
Team AMSOIL participated in the AMSOIL Direct Jobber convention held at the Sheraton on Sand Key. The AMSOIL Offshore race boat was on display on the beach for the Friday activities available for everyone to view.

Clearwater, Florida, October 4, 2009... MYSTIC Powerboats scores a Win–Win; dominating the much anticipated, Turbine Extreme final race at the Clearwater Super Boat National Championships and the 2009 SBI National Points Title. Both the Miss Geico/AMF and the Aqua-Mania Race Teams, ran toe-to-toe all season, and were poised to do battle on the Gulf of Mexico. The outcome would generate both a 2009 National Turbine Extreme Champion and an individual race winner. But, the “MYSTIC Mystique” held true to its namesake, where it was anybody’s race till the drop of checkered flag.

The #88 SNAV OSG Outerlimits SV – 43 owned and throttled by Giancarlo Cangiano won the 2009 Powerboat P1 World Championship in the extremely competitive Evolution class. The Powerboat P1 Series competes in 5 different Venues in 4 different countries throughout Europe. The SNAV OSG team fought hard and won 5 of 10 races. With Giancarlo Cangiano throttling, and the driving duties split between Giovanni Carpitella and Hannes Bohinc, the combination of A Fast Well Handling Boat, Skill, Organization, and technology provided a hard fought and well earned World Championship.
#88 SNAV OSG was joined in the Evolution Class by another Outerlimits SV‐43, #77 Lucas Oil Outerlimits. One week after moving into the first place points position in the Super Boat International series in Morehead City, NC, Team AMSOIL traveled to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri to compete in the Offshore Super Series 2009 National Championships finale. Going into this race, Team AMSOIL had fought its way to a slight one point advantage in the Offshore Super Series (OSS) season point’s battle. What this meant is that Team AMSOIL would have to win the race in order to secure its second consecutive OSS National Championship.
Bob Teague and Paul Whittier tested the boat extensively, timing laps on Saturday to find the best set up. In all, nearly 150 miles were covered during testing on the course. Bob also throttled a boat in the Pro Am Race in the P2 class with a local friend, Roger Neighbors, which provided more experience on the course.
